Mitchellmania

I got this from Red Box last night not expecting much. It was creepy and disturbing more than I expected. The 8 mm footage added to the creep factor. I liked the fact that they implied most of the gore factor, but like the Blair Witch Project, it stayed with me. Anyone else see it?

Saw it..loved it bought it...bout time we get a new horror movie villain..in Buughuul (Mr. Boogie)...but please..no sequels. Very moody and atmospheric..loved how every scene was darkened. Added to the threat-factor. Not quite Insidious but I loved it equally..

I just saw VHS ( much more gore) and it had a similar theme.

Anton Phibes

I liked  it. I also noticed that Christopher Young very neatly did an homage to a bit of Bernard Herman's Psycho score in the film. When (I think) the first 8mm film is watched, there is a slowed down sampling from Psycho.

Either that or I am just crazy.

Dr Spankenstein

I watched this last night and really liked it!  Very creepy, and very effective.  When the film was over I doubled checked to make sure my locks were secured!

As far as new found footage type films go, I thought this was better than VHS.

Bonomo

Guess I'm the black sheep on this one. I thought it was a cookie cutter typical ghost movie with very little difference from any other that's come out in the last five years. :P

Python

I really enjoyed this as well. Ethan Hawke delivered the goods without overplaying it. The creative team was smart in keeping the sensationalism and gore to a minimum - until the overdone final scene(s). I would liked to have seen a bit more attention and screen time given to Mr. Boogey. He was definitely creepy.  I have to confess that I turned a light back on about 3/4 of the way through it! That's saying something.

This should never, ever be compared to garbage like V/H/S, though.  The two don't resemble one another in any way and I'd hate to waste someone's time by having them rent V/H/S. Unless they need a coaster for the coffee table.
