I have seen numerous versions of the classic story Jekyll and Hyde. Can anyone tell me what version this likeness of Mr Hyde is from? I have seen this picture since I was a kid, but have never been able to see the film.

Thanks

That's actual not Mr. Hyde.  It's Lon Chaney, Sr. from LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT, of which, there is currently no known surviving copy...sadly.

You may have this face mixed up with John Barrymore in the 1920 version of J&H. And welcome to the UMA!

That's not Mr. Hyde -- it's Lon Chaney Sr. in "London After Midnight", a long lost 1927 film classic that has a lot of photos available out there but no existing available film  thrhrt . Google it for more info...

Although I will say, if you have the chance to see this version, see it. It's excellent! My favorite transformation of Jekyll to Hyde and it all relies on acting.

Jack Barrymore's is one of the very best.
