Oh for crying out loud!  They had Senate hearing against comic books?  Maybe that has something to do with the cold war.

There is a real interesting documentary about these hearings. Btw......Gaines was a legend. I can't believe all the cr**, he and other fellow comicbook publishers had to go through.

"They come from the bowels of hell; a transformed race of walking dead. Zombies, guided by a master plan for complete domination of the Earth."

Just imagine what those "investigators" would say today about our movies, comics and other forms of modern entertainment. Their heads would probably explode.
You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred.

There is also the great book, The Horror! The Horror!: Comic Books the Government Didn't Want You to Read! which includes a bonus dvd--Confidential File, a rare 25-minute TV show that first aired on October 9, 1955, about the "evils" of comic books and their effect on juvenile delinquency is included with the book.

I bought that one right when it came out or maybe even as a pre-order. Worth every penny and then some. The DVD will make you shake your head and laugh at the same time. Talk about propaganda.
