Sinestre vs Phantom, separated at birth

No, you're not seeing double although these two Phantomesque characters both skulked around
in the early 1980s and nearly shared a DPS catalog together.
First came SINESTRE who was said to have been sculpted by Don Post himself using a
"clay press" of Universal's Phantom as his starter >



Hot on its heels was PHANTOM, truer to the Universal original (if not in coloration) and
highly prized today as a collectible among fans of the "Halloween" movie franchise >



So which would you rather wear for Halloween? If you own a copy of either one, do post pics.

The Phantom is a better sculpt, but there's something utterly charming about Sinestre! I think it's a combo of the wild hair and more cartoony visage.

Other than the paint job, how does Phantom differ from the Ca lander mask?   I always thought Phantom was a re-issue of the original calendar mask !?   I am a tad confused!

I just realized, the original Calendar mask that came out in the 60s was called "The Phantom"  and not "The Phantom of the Opera"!   For all these years, I was under the assumption that  the  original calendar mask from the 60s was called The Phantom of the Opera,  and that a less detailed version came later--named  "The Phantom".  What a mistake!     No!  I got that wrong too!   Just looking at the first calendar mask add in the back of Famous Monsters, and I see it was called The Phantom of the Opera;  so  it would seem that the original, as well as the re-issues are also called The Phantom.  ----I think I've got it correct.
