Well...  not really.

With all the properties Universal owns, they chose to remake THIS:

general gruesome

It'll be interesting/ I'm glad Schwarzennger IS doing the film at least/ Is it a remake or a sequel to the films? I have read that Its both

This actually sounds pretty cool. I was always hoping we'd get a King Conan film. I hope it is done seriously and in tune with Robert Howard's stories and not like Conan the Destroyer. I also hope Basil poledouris does the musical score. His score for Conan the Barbarian is one of my favorites and his Conan the Destroyer score is the best thing about that movie.
Crazy am I? We'll see if I'm crazy or not!

Fester

I can just hear the soon to be classic lines!

Conan: "For no one - no one in this world can you trust. Not men, not women, not beasts. (Points to bag of Depends) This you can trust."  ;D

Mongol General: "What is best in life?"
Conan: "To crush your enemies' Hoverounds, to see their walkers driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women: "I've fallen and I can't get up!'" ::)

Seriously, I actually am looking forward to Arnold's return as Conan.
It has real potential.  king Conan could be a great sequel.

Besides, it has to be better than that last attempt. :P

Haunted hearse

I wonder if there will be a scene where some of Conan's skin gets burned off revealing a metal skeleton.

Guys, on behalf of fans of REH I appreciate the optimism, but I see this as the final sword that will forever kill the Conan film franchise. As far as I know there are no Robert E Howard-written Conan stories which depict a Conan of Arnie's age, so don't look for any REH material. Hollywood has consistently chosen to ignore REH's original stories, while reinventing his characters, and not for the better.

Dr. Madd

I know the working title for this.. "Conan the sextagenarian."
Madd The Impaler-

Dr. Madd- The Original- accept no subsitutes.

There were REH Conan stories written when Conan was a king, but the character was in his 40's or 50's. He sails off to uncharted lands before he ever reaches Arnold's present age. This would only really work if it was broken into two stories, where a younger actor (paging Roland Kickenger!) plays Conan when he claims his kingdom, and then Arnold plays King Conan, defending his kingdom one last time.

The Arnold's-age character could sail back in to rescue his old kingdom from some trouble/evil ruler that he has heard rumors about.

I was never a fan of the original stories.

Well they mad a Dr. Dolittle film with Rex Harrison, and that didn't stop them from rebooting Dr. Dolittle with Eddie Murphy.  So who knows.  Maybe they'll do a new Connan series starring Eddie Murphy.  I have no doubt that Murphy could do a German accent if called upon.
