Hello.
My name is Steve Kaiser...originally from Brooklyn, N.Y....and when I was six, my first model (not my first "monster" model, I mean first model ever), was the Aurora "Frankenstein" creature...
It was in 1962, and I was at a church fair with my Grandfather...we passed a "Wheel of Chance" game that was being run by Grandpas childhood friend Joe Mulligan. As they talked, I caught site of the "long box" Frankenstein that was being displayed as one of the prizes, and asked if I could put down my nickle and get it. The nickle was put on number nine (...number nine...number nine...number nine...), and Joe spun the wheel.
I didn't win...and walked away dejectedly to rejoin my parents at another part of the fair.
A few minutes later, someone tapped me on the shoulder. It was my Grandpa, and he handed me the Frankenstein model. "Here." he said. 'Joe never was any good in math anyway". I remember being absolutely enthralled, yet puzzled because I knew that my number didn't come out...
Years later, Joe told me how my Grandpa gave him five bucks for the model...because he couldn't stand to see me disappointed. That is how I became a life-long Aurora monster fan...Thank you, Grandpa.

Great story but don't post in beige. Beige can't be seen against the background colour theme some of us use.

The Batman

Frank was my first model too. I would not be surprised at all if a lot of other UMA members built Frank first as well.

A classic, All-American horror fan moment, indeed.

YoungestMonsterKid

my story:
my dad had talked about how he had these models when he was a kid all the time
when I was little he found some pictures online and showed them to me
when I was much older (Christmas 2014) I got the diamond select Frankenstein and Dracula
and their bases reminded me of the model kits sort of
so I looked them up again
and by February of 2015 I had bought my first model (a reissue of The Phantom of the Opera)

Easy enough to read.  Just highlight the page, as if you intended to copy it.  The post becomes instantly visible.

I used the QUOTE button to view the coding to determine why I wasn't seeing anything.
