With the release of the 2012 science fiction film, Prometheus, I thought I'd make this poll to ask the fellow UMA'ers which of the ALIEN films was your guys' favorite. Whether Prometheus is a prequel or a film in it's own, or both, I figured I'd add it also. I'm probably going to see it soon anyways. In my opinion, the original ALIEN was the best, and is the one I watch the most. Most people favor over the sequel, with it's integration of both science fiction and action, although I liked it, it was nothing compared to the original first film. The original was cool, the setting, the atmosphere, the characters, and the one single creature that stalks the crew aboard the spacecraft in a slasher sorta way. The part where the robot is decapitated and the dinner part where the creature rips through the guys' torso is awesome as well. I just really liked the first one alot. As for the others, I didn't like much.

I loved the first one and liked the second one, the third was okay ... I haven't seen the others.

Alien for me, Aliens a very close second. #3 kinda missed the mark. Resurrection could've been great--we get to see more of the aliens in this one--but save Ripley, I didn't like the characters. They were hard, ugly personalities that I didn't care about. I haven't seen the new prequel.

I love the first two. The others are okay, but have some good points.

First two for me, too (voted for 1)

I do have 3 & 4 in my collection but don't like them as much as the first two

Can't wait to see Prometheus when it's out on DVD or at NetFlix~

No matter what, i will always have a soft sport for the first Alien. When I was a kid I saw the second one first, it was more of an action film with a lot of the xenomorphs in it and my parents thought I would like that one best so thats why they showed me it first. For a long time thats what I knew of the franchise. I had all the kenner toys as a kid and everything, but then when I was about 8 or 9 I saw Alien and it changed my life! For starters it scared the hell out of me! But the way it was told and the sets and the Alien suite and everything just blew me a way and made a HUGE impact on me. Alien and Creature From The Black Lagoon were the 2 movies that made me want to get into special effects for a living! I know a lot of people in my generation got into it because of Star Wars (don't get me wrong, I love me some Star Wars) but for me, it was Alien. That being said... I LOVED Prometheus! So at the end of the day, I think Prometheus sneaks in between Alien and Aliens for me. I did really like 3 (even though it gets a lot of crap sometimes) but Resurrection i can really do without. Every time I watch that one it just makes me angry! Like Lundy said, I didn't like anyone in the film, Ripley's character was wrapped up nicely in 3 and just felt forced in Resurrection, they changed the anatomy of the xenomorphs for no reason. There's just a lot of issues with that film.
Do you like monsters? They're my only weakness...

yeah, I liked the fact of the original being just one creature stalking and killing the crew one by one, thought it was alot cooler

I really forgot how scary the original Alien movie was.  The mood and pace are just so perfect that it keeps you in suspense and under the covers, lol.  One of my favorite scenes is when Dallas, Lambert, and Kane discover the large alien with its chest popped open.  Just that scene, shown from a bird's eye view, is scary as hell.  I usually try to put myself in the characters shoes and imagine I was there.  How awesome would it be to see something like that?  But anyway, the original just is so much scarier than the others.  Even wen their on the ship and the strobes are going and smoke and steam are filling the air, all while sirens are going off.  Hollywood should definitely take notes from this movie......special effects and expensive CGI do not necessarily make a good movie.

Kind of the opposite of Star Trek, which makes most of us long for space travel! Equally scary, the heartless corporation that purposely put the crew in harm's way. The first film is definitely a stand alone masterpiece.

Haven't seen Prometheus yet, so the first is still the best to me.  Loved the first one, and can watch the others.
