Star Trek's "Next Generation" didn't do too poorly.

Yeah, it had its moments. But, it was more of a continuation than a revamp. It built on the history of TOS, instead of going back to square one.

Hey, "The Munsters" WAS messing with the Classics!  (I guess "classic" depends on to which generation you belong.)
