What were you doing exactly one century ago? If you were VERY lucky, you were attending the world premiere of Lon Chaney's Phantom of the Opera!!!

Agreed, spectacular poster. Thankfully, the movie lived up to it ...  and still does!

Technically, in April of 1925 was the second cut of the movie, which was received poorly. The first cut, with the original ending was released in January of 1925.
The third and final cut of the movie (which we have today as the 16mm Hampton print) was released on September 6th, 1925. So we still have a bit to go, depending on how you look at it.

And then of course, there's the two different 1929 cuts (the lost sound version and the silent recut version that is most commonly seen today).
