The diving bell like thing came with a Sesame Street mad lab intended for Dr.Beaker I think...It had a character in a lab coat that my daughter nailed.  I believe the person that did the modeling had Edison's Frankenstein film version....chemical vat with a porthole in mind.... just a guess though
