On Dec. 26,  the monster world lost a lady only a monster could love. On dec. 26,1986 Ms. Elsa Lanchester passed away. Ms. Lanchester was married to another Monster original. She was married to Mr. Charles Laughton, he played the Huntchback of Notre Dame. Even though they were married for yrs, it was known that he was gay.

Elsa Lanchester was a hoot, pure and simple!  A very interesting, sometimes kooky, sometimes grumpy lady, who loved to entertain--on the stage, on film, the recording studio!  I can think of 2 or 3 other "horror" things she was in--there was WILLARD (the original one--she is Willard's mom) and TERROR IN THE WAX MUSEUM--both of those are pretty late, 1970s I think.  In the 1940s she did a GREAT role as one of the insane sisters of Ida Lupino in LADIES IN RETIREMENT, which verges on being a horror--it's a very good murder/suspense movie.  Elsa was also in the Disney fantasy films MARY POPPINS and BLACKBEARD'S GHOST.
