I had put a bid in on this on Ebay but it ended up going for more than I thought it was worth, I believe the seller listed as "very fine" but in my opinion it was only "fine" at best.  Anyway the seller had sent me a scan of the inside and I found it interesting that "IT" was portrayed as a Gillman in this instead of a giant ape.

Yeah, strange. Odd change to make. I'd never seen the inside of that comic so it's a surprise to me, thanks for posting it!

That's cool...I guess, more Godzilla than King Kong, huh?
Beautiful moving, shifting colors!

When I was in 6th Grade (I'm in Australia, and this would be 1972) I was one of a pair of students placed in 'charge' of the school's reel-to-reel tape recorder. With a well-read, well-worn copy of Dell's MAD MONSTER PARTY in hand, I proceeded to write it as an audio play. Ended up with about eight students performing the thing from end-to-end. It was a hoot. All sound effects were done by mouth! The kicker was having it played back in class, as well as in the class next door (you couldn't hear much there, just my werewolf howls, which got my class giggling so much, our teacher had to ask theirs to turn it down).
The weird thing is, I replaced their amphibious 'IT' with plain old 'KONG'. Why beat around the bush with analogues?
And of course, years later, when I finally saw the movie, they used an ape... even though they didn't name him as I recall. I guess a giant gorilla can be generic these days.
