I tried for this one but even my $1000+ bid wasn't high enough. This was actually the second listing for this item, the seller said the original bid winner backed out claiming he had used a shill bidder to extend the price. It actually sold for more the second time around! Lucky for the seller. Is it just me or are prices going up for these items? I thought something in the $600 to $800 range would easily get this item.

It escapes me as well. I've never even sought a decent copy for a "completest" piece.

Amazing to see one in such a pristine shape, with a box just as clean. Wonder where it has been sitting all these years.

Probably in the ugly toy corner of someone's collection. Did this one come out before or after the Universal wind up?

Just a guess, but I am betting that Marx's license on the Uni-Frankenstein ran out, and they produced this guy to fill the void. Same mechanism, and note no copyrights on the box. The box graphics look a bit later in design too, to me anyway.

The box really makes the toy. I love that creepy artwork. The monster looks like some demented vagrant lurking in the woods by your house. Look at him wave. He just wants to be your friend.

I've never seen the box before, and just looking at it here, I see just a tiny bit of Christopher Lee's creature in it. It's the shaggy haircut, I think.

He is such a weird hodgepodge...

I love the skull belt which looks like it ws lifted from The Phantom...

One thing I never noticed before?-- the "Monster" lettering on the box looks very much like the FM logo...

Interesting that he has no bolts or stitches. And the blue hair reminds one of the Mego Frankenstein.

I do see a bit of Christopher Lee in the box front artwork.
