Nothing to do with Spike Jones alas. I merely thought to share these mummies I doodled while on a phone call recently. I really hate phones, and doodling helps make them almost bearable!

I scanned these and decided to call the Chaney-esque one "Affrontis" for reasons of how he looks; the other guy shambling along, I called "Rankin-bassish" which was purely descriptive until I realised it's not bad-sounding as an actual name.

Does anyone else cartoon ?

If I were a mummy, I would be Affrontis!  Thank you for showing those--great stuff.  And I suspect there are a few cartoonists here, yes!  I know Scott Nickels, of EEK! fame, is among us, for instance.  There must be any number of doodlers (darn it, you had me thinking there was gonna be a Doodles Weaver thread!) as well.

Great doodles!  I do my best ones while on the phone!

Love the Mummy doodles. Really fun stuff.

As far as Doodles Weaver, I'm sad to report that his daughter recently took her own life, just as Doodles did. Very sad. His widow still lives across the street from me, and the granddaughter is in college here in L.A., and they are doing fine.

Would love to see more doodles from you, DLT!

Ah, cheers everybody, thanks for the comments.

Frank, love your stuff.

I didn't know about Doodles - that's terrible. I was recalling that lovely Drew Friedman page "Oodles Of Doodles" but its last panel - Doodles looking crestfallen as he remembers "that impending nuclear holocaust" -  now won't quite feel right.

Your doodles remind me of Harvey Kurtzman! Great work! More!

Oh my God, Frank.  I knew Janella very well but have not spoken to her for over a year.  I know she had many problems but I can't believe this.  I just tried calling her last week and the phone was disconnected, which worried me.  My wife and I babysat her daughter Stephanie when she was around two years old.  Stephanie became a very successful college softball player, and went to the South on a scholarship.  Janella used to live in Redondo Beach and we did some community theater together in the 1980s.  I am really shaken by this news.  Please email me privately if you can with any additional details.  Thanks.
