I am like a laboratory created thoroughbred drinking monster:  50% Irish, 40% Polish and 10% German.  Belated Happy St Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all!    *** Fester*** I  have never heard anyone else sing that song except The Dropkick Murphys! I knew it was probably an old song, but I don't get out much! I really enjoyed that version, it was a lot easier to sing along with. Thank you :)

The earliest mention of the song I know of is about 1850.  So, by Irish standards, it is a fairly recent song.  I love The Dropkick Murphys and their re-workings of classic Irish songs is wonderful.  Several years ago, the Pogues crossed over from punk to record some more traditional tunes.  Check them out--plenty of clips on Utube.

Whoa, that is an old song! I adore the Pogues, I've listened to them for at least 15 years. Dropkick is our family favorite, they are great live! My son is really into Flogging Molly, but for some reason, I really don't have any of their stuff except for on compilation cds. Our family is an Irish-wannabe family. What great music and history they have shared with US. Now I wanna go listen to If I should Fall From Grace with G_d.  Yay

I'm a mix of Irish & German, so my idea of a well balanced meal is, a drink in each hand!
