Has anyone here been to the Universal Studios, House of Horrors walk through in Cal? I've never had the opportunity to make it to the Cal US park, but I'm soooooo excited about this attraction. I hope they eventually try one out at their FL park, but I have a feeling they won't. If you've been, what did you think of it?

Take care,

HUH?

A Walk through attraction dedicated to the Monsters?

I've heard nothing about this!  How cool...(I hope)  Can someone check it out and report?  Take pics?
Dan?  Dan Roebuck?  This is right up your alley...

Found this.  There'a video on the side that is kind of cool.  Shows all of the big classic monsters, (Frankenstein in his 'Bride' chair busting out...Hairy Larry clawing and attacking, and the Mummy (Not Kharis or Imhotep) springing to life....

Also more modern monsters like Chucky, a leatherface-esque chairsawe killer...and other monsters.  It looks fun.

Rest in Peace,

Universal renovated their Van Helsing (lame) attraction, into the House of Horrors. It looks pretty cool. One of my artist friends created all of the new masks for the attraction. I just hope that it's a successful attraction that lasts for years to come.

The Phantom Creep

Also spotted Nosferatu in there. That chubby Chucky cracked me up. That does look like a lot of fun!! Hope they open one down in Orlando.

Thanks for posting this, I hadn't heard anything about it.

Darn a day too late. EA, I stumbled upon a bunch of pics for this place the other day searching for something else, now I can't find them, GRRRRR.

Nice shots of the monsters.  Franky looked Semi Generic, should have used the DP Karloff mask from the Walkaround.
Morning, noon, or night, Anytime . . . . the count may strike. If you're caught you have to linger, Cause Dracula may bite your finger!

I had a meeting in San Diego last week and my wife and I flew in a day early so we could get out of the Midwest winter and into the West Coast sun. We drove to LA on Saturday and decided on a whim to go to Universal Studios Hollywood. I have never previously been to this park (or the Orlando version either) and did not know about the House of Horrors.

The first thing we did once the park opened was hit the potty (for those of you who travel with your wife, this probably isn't any surprise). As I stood waiting for her, I could hear this tremendous movie music--the Creature theme and other snippets of tantitlizing sound coming from a gothic structure near the front of the park. Drawn closer by the music, we found a Dracula-like vampire pacing through the sparse crowd, posing for photos in mid-bite. Attending the front door of the House of Horros were black-robed attendants who beckoned us inside.

Monster heaven! This is a nice, scary walk-through attraction. There are live performers who will stalk you or jump out from behind corners. There are some tidbits of classic Universal monsters, but it's mostly sound and atmosphere. At one point, you circle and descend into a great mockup of Dr. Frankenstein's laboratory, with the Bride visible from the top and a Frankie actor lunging at you below. If there was any substantial Creature presence, I did not see it. There is a Chuckie room and some chainsaws, a room of swinging body bags and nods to Norman Bates and other film baddies. If you're hoping for a singular display of the classics, don't get your hopes up. But all-in-all, not a bad way to spend a few minutes.

I was disappointed at the total lack of monster-themed souveniers at the park. One gift shop had copies of the Legacy DVDs and you could get classic horror movie posters in a few locations. The Movie Lot tour gives you some horror hotspots, too. But no plush Creech or  jiggler Wolfies for sale, although plenty of mummy crap from the Brandan Frazier version.

BTW--this is a tiny park, if you are used to the Disney Orlando parks. The Mummy and Jurrasic Park rides are nice but are the ONLY two rides (not counting the Studio tour). The Special Effect show is great (some nice monter artifacts on stage) and there are other intersting attractions but with the sparse crowd on hand Saturday, we breezed through the place in no time.
