Monsters For Sale

England certainly seems to take its horror / sci-fi actors more seriously than we do:

How Absolutely WONDERFUL!  I'm very happy for Sir Patrick.

Jeez, he was already charging a hundred bucks for his autograph at Chiller...i imagine the price just went up again!

I rather think his OBE is more related to his stage acting career.  He began acting in about 1957 in the Bristol Old Vic Drama School, but his career really took off in 1966 when he became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. The man has literally hundreds of acting credits in film, stage and Television.  As an American, I think I first saw him when he played Sejanus in "I Claudius" on PBS (rebroadcast from the BBC).
Captain Picard and Dr X are merely recent additions to his 50-plus year reign as one of the finest and busiest actors in the UK.

Well done Sir Patrick!

Really? He only charged 60 bucks at Dragon Con....

Though I've heard that it isnt the actor, but the convention promotor themselves who set the prices for autographs, which are then split with the actor...

Chiller flatly denies having anything to do with what a celeb charges for their signature. In fact, at times they've been known to intervene in cases of some celebs they felt were overcharging and suggested they lower their prices. Stewart was the first one i've ever seen who charged that kind of money for an autograph. Not to mention he ran a special pre show offer where if you paid a hundred bucks in advance you would be guaranteed a photo op with him, of course this didn't include the price of whatever you wanted him to sign...Sorry, i realize he's a big time actor w/lots of screen credits but i find it a bit much, especially in our current economy when you're a guest making yourself accessible to your fans at a public event such as this to take such advantage the people who are largely responsible for your being there... I know nobody is holding a gun to anybody's head, forcing them to pay such outrageous prices, but still.. i walked away from this show with an entirely different opinion of somebody i would have assumed to be a much cooler guy when it came to how he treats his fans.

I was wondering- does anyone know how much Ann-Margret was charging at the last Chiller?

Gasport

I heard from various people that her rates fluctuated. I think she started out around 80 bucks, but the next day i could swear someone said it dropped to 40...she had an entire room to herself away from the main convention. I noticed she didn't have anywhere near the line i would have expected her to have. She stayed busy, though. There was NO CAMERAS allowed. I saw her from a side angle when passing by and thought she looked pretty damned good for her age! People said she was nice and conversational, but was adamant about the NO PHOTO thing. Some folks were pretty disappointed that they couldn't have their pic taken with her.

Sir Patrick!!

Well done, aside from Boris Karloff I cant think of another person who so convincingly delivers lines like he does. I didnt even care for Star Trek until about the 7th grade when I was watching TNG in the late 80's....it was because of my man Piccard!

The sense of humor that man must have to do the cameos he has done on Family Guy and have a reoccuring charecter on American Dad.

Well done, well deserved!

It was my understanding the the "No Photo" policy for her room was because her husband, Roger Smith of 77 Sunset Strip is very self-conscious about the toll his illness has taken on him, so they adopted a total No Photos policy.   Even though she is iconic as a 60s sex symbol, when I looked up her credits, thee really wasn't anything that caught my attention as that interesting.  Had it been Rachel Welch...

Ann Margaret was charging 40 the whole weekend.  She was a doll.  I tried to pay but she saw I worked for the show and wouldn't take the money.

Kinda makes you wish you paid the $100 for his autograph at Chiller.  Try getting it now.
