Wicked..GREAT post on Vader!!! I had the pleasure of seeing them back in 2000 on the "Black To The Blind" tour..never, EVER in my LIFE was I so so crapping in my pants scared of a mosh pit before...literally it was almost "too much".

I saw them here in Jersey for something called The March Metal Meldown. The played the mainstage in the Asbury Park Convention Center which is a GIANT, brick, old marble, gothicy type place made in the 1920's. The walls are grey brick with green crap on them and they played in front of huge window that over looked the beach...it was f'ing freezing in there and a PERFECT scene for them to play.

I will never forget this: Out comes a giant, and I mean giant Polish flag...guitar feedback is making the place shake and Peter goes in very broken English "Horns up, everyone horns up.....maybe this is last time for your horns, maybe tonight...you die!"...and they BLASTED into the music, the pit exploded and because of that I will never forget seeing that band live..truly a powerhouse.

On a side note, my friends wife is from Poland and a few years ago he went there to visit her grandparents, I had him bring me back Polish copies of Litany and Reign Forever World....check out their covers of Mayhem's Freezing Moon, Destruction's Total Desaster and Judas Priest's Rapid Fire!!

Sorry to be so wordy but man you just brought back a huge metal memory!!!!

I've been in my share of mosh pits and done a ton of headbangin. Partial reason my neck has a bad disc in it. It never ceased to amaze me at all the jerkwards and idiots at some of these shows doing stupid stuff. Stage divin , crowd surfing are both dangerous. Then there's the a$$%(*at*)!*& that think a mosh pit gives them an  excuse to bust somebody up. It's SUPPOSE to be fun. I remember seeing Anthrax back in like 90'. We were going around in about a 50' circle. This kid maybe 14 goes down in front of me. I scooped him back up on his feet and we kept going. The same show there were these two thugs. Both 6'2" maybe 230. Short blonde hair and white dago tees standing on the sideline. Every so often one of them would either punch or trip one of the moshers. I tried getting my buddy and this big dude who was maybe 6'6" and 260 to go take care of business. Neither wanted anything to do with it. Suddenly there is a melee. The kids got tired of it and maybe 8 or 10 jumped the thugs and beat the crap outta them. Then security comes over and they beat the crap outta them and take them away in cuffs. Everyone cheered and started the pit again. >:D

I agree man, and death metal shows are the WORST...I saw Deicide years ago and caught a fist to the nose that damn near knocked me out, I mean it literally dropped me to my knees and someone picked me up...after that I was like wtf? I'm not here to fight or miss a day of work the next day, I'm here for the damn music...I'll get close to the stage when I go, but I steer pretty clear of the pit nowadays.

Like 6 or so years ago I went to the Misfits "Resurection" concert and it was played at there hometown in Vernon, NJ..it actually got so out of hand with a few people that they stopped playing and Jerry grabbed the mic and said "our families are here,  its not a fight, take it easy and have fun..next pit better just be a giant circle with everyone running like the old days". Sure enough it was and that was a great memory! Those old circle/thrash pits were the best...this swinging for peoples faces is just nuts.
