I couldn't quite capture the entire cover across my scanner plate
but that's not the worst of it: I'm not even sure who published
this first edition. The spine reads "Ballantine Books"; the title
page "DelRey Books/Random House"; but it's copyrighted "2006
Universal Studios". Then again ... what does it matter?

It's full of amazing high-resolution photographs plus text worth
savoring. I was especially impressed with Bela Jr's tribute to
his famous father. "The Mummy" chapter heavily favored 1932's
version over the later "Kharis" features. However, they compensated
by crediting all the suit performers from 1954-'56 "Creature"
series. None of our older titles ever did. They even mentioned
the Creature's fleeting appearances on TV's "Colgate Comedy Hour"
and "The Munsters". The biggest surprise in the text was reading
that newcomer Lou Costello stunt-doubled the likes of Joan Crawford
and Dolores DelRio! Has anyone else here ever heard that?

Strange but true!  :)
