I was watching Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein today and it got me thinking, if Dracula needs soil from his home country in his coffin, then how does he keep his tux so clean?  Does he bathe?  Also, what about the Monster?  What would he smell like?
Or, am I just thinking too hard about this, considering, I have never thought about this till today and I have been watching these movies all my life.  I'm 52 BTW.

Isn't there a thing about how vampires are suposed to smell bad?

Considering my favorite of Universal's Main three, The Wolfman, looks as if he just stepped out of Pierce's Salon for Women with regards to his hair, I think you're overthinking it.

However, Dracula is a supernatural creature, and versed in hypnotism. My guess, he is kind of like the salt creature from Star Trek. He  can make himself appear (and smell) like anything he wishes. The mirror reveals the truth, there's no soul, so nothing to reflect.

As for Frankenstein's Monster, he regenerates, and the only way to kill him is by dissection. He's been burned, thrown in sulfur, had buildings fall on him, drown in quicksand, and shot full of electricity. Think of him as Wolverine with regards to his healing factor. So he probably smells fresh as a daisy. I suppose the bigger question here is; with all of that regeneration going on, why hasn't he healed completely after all these years, and look just like you and me. no green skin or scars?

Suspension of disbelief is the key to having fun with any of this stuff. Your kid-self just enjoyed it. Take a lesson from him.

So, does Drac have to actually TOUCH the soil from his home country, I wonder? Or just be near it? Maybe just a thin layer on the bottom of the coffin? Or just a small pile in the corner?

As for Frankie, hmmm..... how undead is he? I would think the dead wouldn't sweat much, but he's always dressed for December.

I need MythBusters to tackle these topics and more.
