Weezin' with Weird Al?! -- What a COVER!

Hot damn; nothing 'parodic' (except a bit of Al's trademark stunting) about this whatsoever!  Hard to believe these guys (Weezer) have been doing it for over 25 years, and Al celebrated his fortieth year in the music biz last year!  He's got a great look here, and this composition is tight.

For his critics that have dismissed him as 'disposable fluff' through the years (he's been called worse), I welcome them to check out his wealth of non-direct parody songs, including this one.  Quite a dark tune, and certainly not one for the kids nor MTV at the time....if a slightly modernized 50s Ricky Nelson saccharine ballad had been written & performed by Norman Bates...
