The fifth installment in the Evil Dead franchise will star Alyssa Sutherland, Lily Sullivan, Morgan Davies, Gabrielle Echols, Nell Fisher and Mia Challis. Additionally, today we were given a full synopsis for the film, which reads as follows:

"In the fifth Evil Dead film, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A apartment. The sisters' reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie's building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable."

I'm a huge Evil Dead fan, but this project seems off. No Bruce Campbell in front of the camera, no Sam Raimi behind it, and no cabin in t he woods...one has to ask how many crucial Evil Dead ingredients can you remove and still call it the Evil Dead.

Of course, I will still be watching it day one on HBO Max and will buy the subsequent Blu-Ray Steelbook release.

Big fan of The Dead franchise. I guess we'll see how this turns out. Hopefully not disappointing.
