Vintage Hearse Needed For Photo Shoot In NYC Area

Haunted hearse

The hearse in the picture is known as a "Carved Panel" hearse.  It was a type which began appearing about 1930, and the last ones of this style were made prior to 1949.  Unlike the earlier Carved hearses, the carved area was a single panel on the side of the casket area, often with some additional decorations on the rear doors.  On carved hearses from the 1920's on back, the entire rear body could have been carved.  By the way, not all of the "carved" panels, were actually wood.  Some of those carved panels were stamped metal intended to look like carved wood.
