Visiting family in Rochester MN for a few days -- we escaped to the movies one night -- and saw this HUGE hand painted KONG poster copy hanging in the Cinemagic multiplex lobby.

Hard to get a sense of scale -- but here's a shot of some of the rest of the wall...

Some company used to sell prints of hand painted copies of classic posters (including that KONG 3-sheet). I believe they were original size. A 3-sheet is 41X81 (6' 9" H).

There were several more to the right, including Adventures of Robin Hood.  Didn't get a shot of the whole thing.

Speaking of hand painted movies posters...here is an interesting article about two resident artists who painted lobby posters for the Lowe's Grand Theatre in Atlanta, Ga back in the days.  Its from Architectural Digest Nov 2008.

Wow!! What a fantastic looking wall! I'd also love to have something that glorious hanging on my living room wall!    :)

I saw that in person! Wish I'd had a camera with me at the time. :(

Hard to get a sense of scale --

Having the EXIT sign in the photo helps, they're all pretty standard no matter where you go....though I don't know the exact dimensions!
