Actually, the F-monster pictured did cost a bit more than $300 but the Dr. Niemann didn't. Our friend Darrell (monstroza) removed the beard from a Mad Doc reissue and I think I paid $100 for it, plus another $150 for the mannequin, clothes, hands, and custom eyes.

Relatively speaking, making your own lifesize monsters (especially for the mask collectors here) isn't expensive at all. The only tricky part is finding someone who sells second-hand mannequins – although what I mostly use are "torso-forms" which come on stands. Such specialty dealers can be located in most larger cities and are listed in the yellow pages under the categories "store display, used" or "store fixtures, used."

So, folks, please buy yourself a monster body, add a favorite mask, and start your own House of Horrors. It's a lot easier than you might think.

Wow, that's a great idea. Well done!

I'm a little glad to see people backing off these expensive items. I've been really down on the cost of "toys" these days and it's nice to know I'm not alone or just being a hobo. It really is outta control.

Hey Roheimiana, great Frank figure!! I love it!! Makes me want to do something like that. Maybe someday.

I just want to say here that I, and I'm sure just about everybody else on here, will always be very thankful for Sideshow and their 8" and 12" monster lines. I don't really hate Sideshow or anything I'm just fed up with them only doing very expensive stuff these days.
