STRANGE PHENOMENA AND THE SUPERNATURAL

I was about 15 or 16 at home one night watching Jaws with my dad in the living room.  I knew that a slow part of the movie was coming up and decided to make a quick bathroom break.  I ran, maybe trotted, but I was not walking, to the bathroom and just as I started down the hall, which was about 15 feet after I started, I ran into someone, I thought.  My brother and sisters were in bad as well as my mom, so I thought one of them were coming the other direction and I ran into them.  I was going to apologize, then I saw that no one was there.  It was light enough that I would have seen someone, even if I knocked them to the floor.  There was nothing else in my way.  I was stopped in the middle of a run, I was knocked back a step, by nothing.  I went back to the living room, waiting until later for a bathroom break.

Kind of.  Both of these happened when I was in the service. 

During boot camp, a guy and I were assigned guard duty on base, we had a section we had to make sure was secure.  One of the building in our route was no longer used and locked up, we were to make sure it stayed locked up.  We had an hour to walk our route and report in.  With each round, we both made sure the building's doors were locked and shut tight, which they were.  On our third round, we found one of the doors open.  We took a look inside, and did not find any other doors or windows open--it looked as though someone was inside and walked out.  Oh, forgot to mention, this building was at one time a boot camp barracks and a recruit supposedly hung himself one day, which is why it was no longer used.

This happened on my second ship.  I was on Sound and Security watch (which meant that I was to walk the ship and make sure everything was ok and take fluid level readings through 11 different tubes that gave an access into the tank) and taking a reading when I heard someone coming down the ladder (all stairs are called ladders in the Navy).  Now, I had walked up and down this particular ladder several times that I knew buy the sound the ladder made if someone was going up or coming down.  As I'm taking my reading, I'm watching out of the corner of my eye to see who was down there.  No one passed by me.  I checked the area I was in, which was storage for sodas and all locked up, and then looked in the compartment below, which was only one and pretty well open, which was empty.  So, someone came down the ladder and just disappeared.

Great stuff, Zackuth - glad you revived this thread!  I've been talking to some of my family about weird things that happened in the house we grew up in.  I'll post some of the stories soon.
