Screenwriter Jimmy Sangster passed away at age 83 last night. A true legend in the genre, who had directed and written several notable horror classics. It was bizarre news, because I just happened to watch Horror of Dracula last night with a group of younger friends who wanted to see some good vampire movies. This kind of makes that bittersweet now. He was a tremendous talent and will be much missed. My blog review of Horror of Dracula is dedicated to the man: http://monstermania-batcat31.blogspot.com/

Sad to hear. We are losing many of the cornerstones of Hammer and thereby the modern era of horror. I was privileged to meet Jimmy Sangster at a Fanex in Maryland several years ago. He was very charming and full of great stories. He even wrote for "BJ and the Bear"!
My music is for Phoenix. Only she can sing it. Anyone else who tries, dies.

Watched HORROR OF DRACULA in his honor last night (he wrote it).  R.I.P. Mr. Sangster...
" Perhaps he dimly wonders why, there is no other such as I. "

Over the past 10 years or so I've become quite a Hammer fan. Sangster's work is much appreciated. R.I.P.
