Last year I bought a Tony McVey Dracula bust from Sassy's Satellite for $60. They said it was an original produced in 1999 in an edition of only 100. Ever since I bought mine, they have popped up a new one for sale every month or two. Was I duped or could it be an original? They insist that they do not sell or approve of recasts.

I have one. Mine was cast in vinyl and I filled it with plaster for weight. My son got it for me but I don't know where he got it. He said nothing of it being a one of a kind. Mine is finished. It is pretty cool.

I was at a Wonderfest a couple years ago and bought one. I painted it up and re-sold it later. The minute I bought it from his table, the seller popped open a large cardboard box that had an enormous plastic bag in it filled with the things. Its been re-done. There were probably 50 of them or more in the box I saw. Sassy's may not be aware of it, but its been re-released.

Umm, Danny at Sassy's produced the kit in the first place.  So, I'm sure the one you got from Sassy's was an original.

You would definitely know. I have bought quite a few things from Danny. Hes also a great painter. john, If there's only supposed to be a hundred ---who made the big heaping pile that was for sale at Wonderfest? Are those re-pops? Its hard to know what you are buying without a box or instructions. So many Asian countries are re-popping the Horizons. But I dont even know if the McVey kits were issued with boxes or just got the plastic baggie treatment.

My guess would be Danny did.   You've got to remember that vinyl kits are made from metal molds that last a very long time.  You can get hundreds and hundreds of pulls.  But there really isn't anything shady going on here.  McVey did the sculpt for Danny.  Danny owns it.  It's his kit.  As for that 100 figure... well, I'll let you fill in the blank there.   ;)

Wow--so I actually had the opportunity to meet the guy I have been buying from online all this time and didnt even know it was him. 100 pull limit must be one of those urban legends deals, I  guess. Thanks for clearing it up. I knew there wouldnt be any funny biz on Danny's end. Hes the bomb and always has done me good on whatever I buy.

If it's an urban legend, it's being kept alive by Sassy's. They have on for sale on E-bay right now that they insist is from a hundred piece edition like the one I bought last year. As long as it's authentic, I have no major problem. Though I wish they would stop advertising it as a vampire-blood rare, hundred piece edition from 1999. I swear, they put a new one up for sale every month or two. I wonder if Bela G. knows about this?

Let's please not play that game anymore.

I would never! I have absolute respect for the indie garage kit maker (not Lugosi jr.). I just wish that they would stop missrepresenting their product for the sake of a sale. I don't care if they made 10,000 of them, just don't sell it as an original blood-rare hundred piece edition from 1999. I find that insulting.

I gotcha on the misrepresenting thing. And, regardless of what has been said above, Danny Faye is not 100% innocent with recasts and whatnot. I and several members know what I mean.

That said, Danny has always been kind to me.
