Doug Jones in independent film

For fans of Doug Jones, the dvd of his new independent film, MY NAME IS JERRY, has just been released.  Besides the fact that Mr. Jones is a great "creature/character" actor, my interest in this particular film stems from the fact that my daughter & niece are extras in the film!  They filmed last year in Muncie, Indiana, my hometown.  Ball State University was the college Jones graduated from.

We were lucky enough to go to the premeire last year in Muncie and meet Jones.  A genuinely nice & friendly guy, about six three or four, and at the most, 165 lbs!  The film is a comedy/drama with no special effects and Doug plays his part as he actually looks - a rarity for him!

A quick story of how my daughter became an "extra" - My mother-in-law works in purchasing at BSU, and she & my daughter, Caitlin were at an open house project last year (or late 2008, I can't remember).  Someone in the Drama/Theater department approached Caitlin and asked her, flat out, if she wanted to be an extra in a film!  I guessed my daughter happened to look the part, kinda punk, or something.  She in turn, told my niece (who LOVES drama!) and they both scored the "extra" gigs.

UP, that is so cool! My wife and I are such film buffs that we always say we would LOVE to be an extra in a film someday, just to say we did it!! Don't feel left out tho bro........when they finally get around to doing the live action Magilla Gorilla Movie, you're at LEAST the stunt double for the star!

Yeah, I thought it was pretty cool.  I know David Letterman went there also and I have a nephew going there now.  Unfortunately, that's about all Muncie has had to offer in the last few years.  Practically every factory has gone down recently.

Yeah, we were interviewed in the very last episode of "Hollywood Heat". Apparently, having us on your TV show spells certain doom, like hiring Ted McGinley.

So that takes care of the TV side of it. Still need to make the big jump to the Silver Screen though!

Yeah..........they wisely focused on Nancy and her crazed John Ritter obsession (though they threw me a bone by also putting a clip of our Beloved Bela in the video montage).

They told us to be "over the top". So Nancy declared she was going to be buried in the tuxedo John Ritter wore to his last People's Choice Awards, which we own.

Nancy does crazy really well.

Kongrats UP!  You should be proud.

I talked with Doug Jones before and he mentioned to me that at one time he was the Ball State Mascot.  Maybe that started his career in costumes.
