Captain Company HYPO-PHONY

Here's something cool that i found on ebay not long ago. It's an unopened Hypo Phony needle that used to be sold by Captain Co in FM all those years ago. Luckily for me the seller did a terrible job describing it in the auction title and apparently not many people knew it was even there. Can't recall exactly what i paid, but it was well under 50 bucks. My first memory of this toy was from back in the day when my mom and i went over to visit my aunt when i was 6 or 7. Upon arriving, my aunt told me to go upstairs and visit my cousin Roger. [he was about 10 years older than me] Well, when i opened his door i was greeted by the sight of Roger sitting on the edge of his bed, with his eyes rolled up into his head, jabbing himself repeatedly in the forearm with this needle and pulling the plunger to make it look like it was filling up with blood! Needless to say i FREAKED OUT and ran back down stairs with Roger in hot pursuit behind me, continuing to jab himself . MAN, did my aunt give him HELL for this! She made him show me it was a toy and apologize. Now, while many kids might have been traumatized by such an episode, i on the other hand, BEGGED him to give it to me. He didn't feel quite guilty enough to part with it, so here, all these decades later i FINALLY am reunited with this cool toy. You can plainly see the graphics on the package that were used in the FM ad. Hope you all have a terrific weekend and Happy Easter!

 Ha, ha!  Thats a cool story about a cool toy!  And Roger sounds like a cool guy!

Great story!    The Hypo Phony is a classic.  In fact they are still being made , but with a different name and a not so cool package. I found one at a costume shop a few years ago to use at a Hallowe'en party.
