Anyone here know anything about these two rubber figures?  They are about 3.5" tall and are marked "Mattel, Inc. 1986 Mexico".

I found them while rummaging through an old box of stuff and I can't remember where I got them.  They remind me of a toy I had as a kid that contained a stink pouch, as in the toy actually smelled.  The one I had came with "Barnyard" smell and while I don't remember it being a monster I do recall that it was about the same size as these monster figures...

I don't remember these at all! I'm very interested though...I'm suprised I'm stumped on something from the 80's.

This looks like Mattel's answer to alot of those "wacky" 80's toys like Sport Freaks and Madballs, etc.

Also, these figures are hollow inside, like maybe they held some kind of glow in the dark goo?  And both of the bases are cut unevenly so I don't know if they were meant to stand upright.

Gaberax

They look like they could have been the tops to a candy tube.  I love them!
Grrr...

I'm thinking they are part of the Mad Scientist series.  The main set had a tank you put water in.  You would put this green goop on a skelton figure you assembled.  The figure along with the goop would be placed in the tank and the goop would dissolve.

They made other figures in that series along with the ones which came with the main set.  There were different compounds of goop which were made as part of that series.

I think that's what they are from.

I'm not sure if it was called Mad Scientist but it was called something like that.

Judd got it!  Looks like there was one more monster too.  I had the Dissect-An-Alien as well.

They are indeed  from the Mattel's Mad Scientist line (though these particular guys may have been released under the "Arco" name, which was mostly reserved for Mattel's budget rack toys, though they also used it for their Other World figure series). You fill them with slime, fold over the bottom and insert it in the (missing) base, and the slime oozes through holes in the eyes, nose, etc. There are two or three gorgeous Japan-only figures in this line as well. I think that "Dark Monkey God" has the Creature-like one, at least, but his laptop died, so I don't think he'll be able top confirm that here in the immediate future.

I have a couple of these in storage on Mad Scientist cards that I bought in the late '80s.  I'd love to see some photos of those Japan exclusive figures.
