FM died with Warren.

I'm sure you meant to say died with the original Warren mag. (Warren, himself, being very much alive.)

I hope Kim does not make the mistake of joining up with them in the future.

You wouldn't think he could be that dumb, although (and I could easily be misinterpreting this) I did read something that sounded like a hint at a future collaboration. Shudder!

I totally agree...this is SUCH a dead topic. Think i'll change my name to Boris Karloff and make a movie called "Frankenstein".   WHO CARES???

Now wait a second... I'd LOVE to see you do that! I'd be the first in line!  ;)

Seriously, I'm with you at this point, it's just dead. A glance at other forums pretty strongly indicates how many people have simply rolled over with a case of the warm fuzzies since this 'statement', regardless of so many unrighted wrongs... so let it lie there, then.
Uncle Forry's gone, FM left long before that, let this 'deal' keep Ferry out of the FM name, and help Kim create a very different beast.

I agree Mike C.  I hate seeing the lovefests at other forums, but I just keep quiet and bite my tounge.  I've dealt with both Forry and Ferry and I know which one I prefered to deal with.  UNCLE FORRY!

It's disgusting! The saddest part is, now that Forry is gone and with his supporters losing interest in the battle, Ferry's version of "history" will be the only one that future fans will hear. I fear for Forry's reputation with the coming generation of fans. I'd rather there weren't any.

I don't think Forry's reputation will suffer due to anything Ferry says.

I can't seem to find the post, anymore, but in another forum some new guy posted that he only heard about FM recently but that he bought Ferry's book and wow that Ackerman guy sounds like a real dick, etc., etc. Nobody challenged his misinformed view of things.

does anyone else find it a bit odd that this "understanding" was reached only a few months after Forry's passing.  Honestly, Ferry knew he was licked years ago but just could not let Forry see him lose (my opinion)
I think that's just unfortunate timing. It looks a lot more to me like this understanding was reached after it was made clear to Ferry that he was going to get his ass handed to him in court. This avoids a lot of legal costs and also allows him to keep producing his other mags. Phil Kim also avoids more legal fees that he would otherwise incur just to protect something he already owns, and potentially gains some good will with the Ferry supporters.

Still, I fully expected this to be a late April Fool's joke.  :)

I don't know what forum you're talking about, but one person on one forum that bans people for saying anything against Ray "the weasel" Ferry (???) isn't really going to have much effect on Forry's legacy.  Ray Ferry wrote a book?  I dunno, I have a profound sense of "don't care" about anything Ferry does.  It's probably going to be rotten, and there's probably nothing that can be done about it, so why even give him free rent in your brain?

What kind of forum bans people for talking about Ray Ferry???  Ray Ferry's forum?

And what about those other mags? Are they (meaning "Shock" in particular, I guess) going to be the blatant rip-off of FM that they appear to be? Will he still be using the Forry style puns and the "Gogos lite" (very lite!) covers and "You Axed For It" and all that stuff? If so, then all Kim got for his money was a title.

Not with you, or me, or many older fans, buy I'm not so sure about the ones that come along later.

The one where you can say what a lovable, hugable guy Ray is all day long, but if you point out all the rotten things he's done you're just a flame war starter and besides it's all over, now, so let's all move on, shall we. I'm all for moving on, but not if it means we're gonna get a lopsided view of history.

I seriously doubt that whatever course Ferry intends to pursue with future publishing is going to be any more successful than his last few years of FM have been. FREAKY is a bad joke, and the first issue of SHOCK is already several months late with no publication date in sight. Additionally, I've long believed that a significant number of his supporters have only been buying his FM because of the logo on the cover, and that their support will wane considerably when he's no longer the publisher. Still, it was worth it for him to concede, because (if I understand things correctly) he stood a chance of losing even his two remaining mags if the court case had proceeded.

If Kim puts serious effort into publishing a new version of FM -- i.e. gets it out to newsstands/bookstores on a regular basis -- Ferry will quickly become just a bad memory.
