The relief sculpture could be based on a classic toy or  an original character.

I thought of that, too. like a bronze Marx Frankenstein on some sort of base.

Btw, how about UMAMA (Universal Monster Army Medal of Achievement)?  ???

And, no, I'm not insinuating anything about your mom.  ::)

Yes? No? Maybe?.....nah....didn't think so. :D

How about a Cthulhu as an award.  We do have some talented sculptors in this group.

Nothing about Cthulhu says Universal Monster Army, though. I like the idea of a tombstone, cemetery, or even a coffin lid with the UMA logo on it. These things are seen in most Universal Pictures horror films, without being specific to any one film or character. Cthulhu is too specific a character, and, as much as I love HPL...most of the films based on his works were AIP faux-Poe movies.

It's too bad Monster Bash already has "The Forry" award. That would be perfect for the UMA.

I'd like us to start thinking more along those lines. Not necessarily something Forry-related, but let's try to tune our brainwaves to that frequency.

If the award is for toys, a toy related theme makes the most sense to me.

Will it be just toys, though? Isn't the idea to fill the gaps left by other awards, like the Rondos? They'll have Tweeterhead's upcoming Elvira statue running against Factory Entertainment's "The Mummy" Scarab Ring, whereas we could make separate categories. That way, things like statues would be one category, action figures another, models, prop replicas, posters (like those Mondo film posters), high-end figures (like Distinctive Dummies and Hot Toys and Sideshow), etc, could all be separate. Original figures, like U.P.'s Sasquatch or Frankenstein, would also be separate, but we could have a category for customized figures, like that cross-impaled Distinctive Dummies' Dracula.[/my-two-cents-worth]

I'm talking about the actual physical award. There could only be one design, like the "Rondos" Rondo head.

I'd like categories similar to The Poppies:

Hmmm? Perhaps this should be looked into, first. Wouldn't want to be the sixth guys handing out awards for the same thing.

I agree. We should select from categories something like these but only if they don't duplicate other awards:

Quote from: Dr Wolfenstein on September 15, 2013, 06:44:35 PM...what categories we should have. Say for example:

           -Best monster styrene kit produced
           -Best monster action figure
           -Best monster statue
           -Best monster art (professional)
           -Best monster art (amateur)
           -Best custom monster figure
           -Best custom monster styrene kit
           -Best monster kid

Would Bob Burns be the next closest similar to Uncle Forry?

How about one of our own members -  The Robert Taylor award?  lol   :)

You could even do a piece of lab equipment and call it the VOLT.  Vote for the VOLT and give everyone a jolt!

Well, the UMA version would be all monster centric, and therefore, the best.
