Television / Re: Tim Burton's Wednesday Show.

Since they have flashbacks of Gomez when he went to Nevermore, I thought Guzman was fine playing the older version of the character in the present. Of course, knowing that Charles Addams based Gomez look on then New York Mayor Tom Dewey, he wasn't originally supposed to be the romantic figure he'd become in the 1964 TV series. J. Evil Scientist (Hannah Barbera) and Boris Badeonov (Jay Ward) were both based on the figure that when the the Addams Family TV show came out was called "Gomez". Also, Addams originally wanted the character to be called "Repelli", which the TV show creators rejected, so Gomez was his second choice.

Finished Episode 5, and I knew it was different.  Not directed by Tim Burton at all.  Unfortunate, as I was really enjoying his hands-on work on this series.  I guess only the first half of the show is directed by Burton.  Morticia is a bit better in this episode.  Gomez is still very meh...  Not a lot of interesting things to note in this one.  It wasn't bad, but it wasn't as good as the previous ones, and it's obviously directed by someone who is not Tim Burton.

The Monsters vs Madness auction is NOW CLOSED. We raised almost $5,000.00 for Planned Parenthood! My sincere thanks to every artist and contributor who donated their time and efforts for our auction items, as well as everyone who bid on them, everyone who helped boost our signal, and everyone who helped us with financial donations. You are all, every one of you, rock stars. Items will begin shipping by Wednesday, and final number will be posted here soon after.
THANK YOU AGAIN, everyone - so much!

Masks and Busts / Re: Vintage masks in ads and articles.

For this pic, Disney crew went directly to their Main Street magic shop and retrieved those Don Post masks for this photo op.  Disney sold the Post Calendar Monster Masks for a few years.

As Noted by Sir Maskalot.

Love these old mask ads thanks for posting these.

I have no idea where this image was originally published or exactly when/why but it looks to
be latter 1960s judging by the finishes on those Don Post masks. I see a Phantom, Mummy
(behind MickeyMonster), Frankenstein, and part of Cousin Eerie along with a couple Randottis
against a background of The Haunted Mansion attraction. Disneyland retailed DP masks for
decades back then.
The Haunted Mansion Attraction first opened in 1969, so there's a chance that this ad is from 1969 to maybe the early 1970s. The HM facade was first built in the 1960s, but I'd be surprised if it was used in many promotions prior to it's opening.

Thats a good one. Dont recall seeing it before.

Here is one with a couple very rarely seen Hollywood Horrors Drac, Wolf , and Phantom.  Seeing how thin they are cast could be a big reason none exist.

Modern Monster Toys / Re: Super 7 "Official Universal Monsters Thread"

I really hope they have a portion dedicated to the Universal Monsters at a park. I only was able to travel and go once, but in 1998 when I went I was pretty bummed that I didn’t see any UM stuff other than a “Creature (1954)” poster in an “alleyway” area.

I went to Universal for the first and only time in '98 too!  I went to Florida and saw the Beetlejuice/Universal Monsters Graveyard Review.  They had posters of each monster up (basically the BK stickers), but that was it.
