Post by: LFSPaul on November 18, 2020, 10:53:29 PM
Has anyone seen the three ring binder offered here or have one for sale?

It doesn't exist. I assume they sent you a Frank, Drac, or WM binder.

Make your own Hasbro Creature binder with the paint-by-number art. (click to enlarge)

That remins a mystery. I don't assume anything about what was sent in redemption for your buck and your box flap. TMK, there are no accounts of anyone ordereing one.

Mike, any reason you state so unequivocally "It doesn't exist"?

If one ever turns up, I will gravel at your feet for forgiveness!  ;D

All the other things they were selling were familiar monster items, like the wallets and the posters, so it just makes sense it was the Hasbro binders.

You can shapeshift into "gravel"?

Weird.  ;D

Sorry! I meant I will throw gravel on your feet.

No need to grovel one way or the other, and i've got a taste for footwear, so no gravel at the toes either. Just wanted to know if you knew as definitively as you've stated. I suspect that there is no Creature binder but, as mentioned, I'm unaware of any account of someone havng ordered one.

I'm not very familiar with the offers on these boxes. I take it you are, Mike, perhaps from the replica work?  Do you know if the second versions of these boxes also had the offers on the flaps?

No need to grovel

The spellcheck didn't challenge me, so I didn't notice it was the wrong word.

Just wanted to know if you knew as definitively as you've stated.

No definitive evidence, but how long do you have to wait before you call the election? I've also never seen a wallet that looked like the Dracula candy box, or a 6ft poster that looked like the flap art.

Do you know if the second versions of these boxes also had the offers on the flaps?ork?

2nd versions?

Mike,  question mark was for not knowing of a 2nd. version of the monster candy boxes as you mentioned above.  I remember buying these boxes all the time as a kid,  but I'm with the same school of thought that one really doesn't exist.  I mean, if one hasn't surfaced by now,  after 55 plus years,  it's a rather distant chance.  However,  just to be safe,  never say never (although at this point, I am).  Unless, with all the deceiving re-pops being produced,  one magically appears!!

Kind of reminds me of the piece I have that my son took pictures of a few years back when I posted the pics of my creature head plaster or chalk like material pin.  The way it was painted I still think it's old.  It was slightly chipped near the bottom.  I bought this piece at one of those great Atlantique City shows years ago from a woman who dealt with vintage jewelry.  All she could tell me about it was that it was bought I think from an estate sale somewhere there in Jersey I believe with a bunch of other vintage children items and some other vintage boardwalk gift items which kind of makes me think that it was indeed purchased at one of those shops way back.  I remember those shops well,  they were a treasure trove of obscure items back in the early 60's.

What three ring binder?

The one on the bottom of the Creature Phoenix candy box. It's just a crude drawing.

Hi Mike.  My son doesn't have the picture anymore, he posted it here on UMA along with a few other items I own such as the candy cigarette bag from 1963 and I think some monster gumball charms and maybe other things.

I'll look through your posts in Vintage Toys and see if I can find it.

Ok guys.  I know a few of you offered to help me load some pictures, and I really appreciate it, but I left my son do it for me, a little less "painful" that way, for me. I openly admit, I'm NOT good with these things on the computer, but, you already knew that.  I hope that these are ok for you, this is the "original"1963 bag that these came in. I also took photos of my Mummy box, it's not in the best shape, but as mentioned, really scarce, I only have one or two others of the other monsters buried somewhere in a box. If I had duplicates, I'd trade, but unfortunately I don't, least right now anyway.

Hey guys, while we're talking monster candy, here's another piece that I think you'll like, wax filled syrup monsters still on the card.  Anther rare item to find, mid-sixties vintage.

You need to do something about Photobucket obscuring your photos though.

Actually I've already done more than my part but here they are:

Here are some pictures of this Creature pin. I believe the dealer said it was a chalk ware piece. It's about 1.25 in. tall. There is some detail on the face, sort of remember seeing things like this of maybe different characters way back, but if anyone can help with knowing exactly when it was from. As mentioned by looking at it, with the way it's painted, looks like a 60's piece.

With that safety pin molded in there, it looks kinda home made?

Hi Mike.  I know it's questionable, like I mentioned, it was bought at an Atlantic City antique show from a woman who dealt with jewelry, who purchased it from a New Jersey home sale, she told me it was in the lot of jewelry she bought there along with other smaller items, some of which came from boardwalk gift shops from long ago. The paint on this is surely 60's style.  I was at this particular show early, and actually got to see it as she was still setting up that particular case she had.  In the corner on one of her tables, she had the other items bought from that sale, which included many small items from the gift shop that included a lot of glass, porcelain, and chalk items.

Actually it was easy.

I'm still wondering though whether you've ever used the SEARCH function yourself because I've still never noticed you using any of the assorted additional features of this board.

Hep,  never knew it would be an issue or problem with my simple way of just reading and responding to posts on this board.

But can you not see that it is a problem when you're unable to quickly find anything you've posted years or even months ago?

UMA utilizes a very standard discussion forum operating system that's been in use since the latter years of the 20th century. The features are very intuitive. Hit SEARCH, QUOTE or any icon such as B or I and what's going on and what you need to do is self-evident. I picked up on the most useful features within days or even hours of joining a discussion forum back in 2000. And no, I neither studied computer programming in university nor do I work in electronic data processing. Like I say, the logic on this board is self-evident.

All you need is to NOT close your mind to learning new tricks.

P.S. A helpful trick is highlighting text and copying said text within your mouse. My sales assistant had to teach me that trick back in 2000. Ask your son how to do it on your machine. You can still manage quite well posting without this trick, but like I say it's helpful.

Hey Hep.  Thanks so much for the eye-opening reply,  I really appreciate it.  So,  I guess there really is a problem with you with the way I reply to messages??  Sorry about that.  Thanks so much for belittling me here, and honestly, I'm not closed-minded either.

Oh come on. Suggesting that you put the very small effort into finally trying the SEARCH and other functions is hardly "belittling". If you're actually open-minded to learning new things, you wouldn't find the suggestion offensive.

Nor does your facility at using this board constitute a problem for me. Now if I couldn't figure out a way to fully utilize a feature myself, that would constitute a problem for me. I have two of those right now:

1. How do I get text or a picture to move in reverse from left to right instead of from right to left?

I've tried inserting the word "reverse" both before and after "move" both with and without a dash and it doesn't work.

2. What does the Toggle View icon do?

I'd appreciate any help anyone can offer.
