GREAT board here-gonna take ahwile to get used to all the various catagories and where to post, but this looks like fun!
Once we get used to it, I think it'll be fine.
That "your ad here" animated banner though is pretty annoying...
It'll take us all some little time to get used to, but...it's home! Quite a bit of remodeling done, but--home, sweet home! lol Bats and all! Oops--tripped over that loose board. Hey, why are there loose boards? Hand me a hammer.
Somebody better get that hammer out of Robert hand. Max, it's your fault giving him that hammer. He is trying to hammer everybody toes! This is a cool place. I'm getting used to this site now since I been on it for several hours. It is easier once you know all the buttons and dials around here. Congrats on hard work done!
This is a nice format and layout; the Yahoo thing was annoying enough to keep me from really participating as much as I could have on the old board. I'm really liking this one!!!
Hey, this is pretty cool! I love it get job guys!!
Do we still get to have UMA of the Month??
Boils & Ghouls!-
Hi!
- Ex-OotMah (but then, aren't we all?) Craig W.
Hey! It looks great! Hope everyone makes it here okay.
Mike
Hello everybody. The new board looks great.
Just seeing if my avatar works, don't mind me folks ;)
George
Love the decor guys, I already feel at home.
Thanks everyone for blessing our new barracks with your presence here! It's only going to get better as time goes on. Remember .. this is only our "soft opening" .. meaning things are still being tested and developed here by the hour. Hopefully, by January 1st (our official grand opening), most of the bells and whistles will be fully operational. Salute!

Greetings Ms. Drac, the Officer Of the Month bit will continue here at the new forum. In fact, Max is already working on what could be a very, very, very special Ootmah! I can't say anymore than that, but if he succeeds in securing this individual, he's going to receive a raise!
Wow! Nice Place. Hi, Guys I made it. Universalrocks reporting for duty, on the old Yahoo board I was known as K7tubolock25 but never changed the name there. I wanted to start here with the name I use on most of my other boards that I visit. Heres to a New World of Gods and Monsters!!!!!!!!

Just seeing if my avatar works,
It's a little pixelated (but then, aren't we all). You might want to redo (from the original pic) at 100x100.
Hey everybody -- I'm just dropping in a test post here to see if I have this all figured out!!!!

It sure appears as if you do Scary Terry. Welcome, and nice avatar by the way!
Okay, I think I can get the hang of this. It is very similar to the clubhouse model boards.
Very nice!
Chuck Jeffers
Hey kids, how do ya like my avatar? (Couldn't say that at the old place!)
Jack Linendoll-- Good to see you posting!
Let's see, how does this thing work? <type, type, type>.
I know that a new broom sweeps clean but what about a new board? Whacks you in the head?
And my regards to General Discussion---he's right up there with General Alarm, Major Annoyance and the ever popular, Private Parts.
Now, pardon me while I go walk into a wall---it is rather dark in here . . .

Here Meek .. grab my hand, and I will help you find your way. Glad that your here. ;)
Terry: Are you a stranger with a pair of dice? I'll pass on the hand holding:I dislike being touched, that and the fact my hands are very, very cold.
"Meek"(those icy fingers up and down my spine)

It's going to take a little time for me to get used to moving around here, but it's great to see the same old bodies emerging from their chilly graves to bid us all a warm welcome!
Love and hisses - Liz D-M
Looking good Terry! Wishing you much success with your new site!
Well, it looks nice and gloomy.
Brother D
The UMA. A most distinguished website, whose name we have heard ... even in the wilds of the Classic Horror Film Board.
Seriously, I am VERY happy to be here, and look forward to watching in awe as the artistic talent of the UMA makes this place a visual treasure trove of gods and resin.
Yahoo? I never even heard the name.
david
I'm here and everything looks great! Congratulations on your new digs. I've put a link up on the splash page of the Monsters from the Vault Web site and I hope our membership continues to grow.
The board looks awesome Terry, nice work!!
Nice place. Still looking around an poking at stuff. It's going to be fun exploring.
Testing...1...2...3...4...me me me....
It's great to see a lot of activity on the first day. But oh dear, I see we already have a bunch of smudge marks and fingerprints on the freshly painted walls. And what's this - a spot on the carpet! Hey, who gouged this tile? And this table has a chip in it! The window screen is torn! AAAGGGHHHH!!!

Well, that's the kind of crowd you get when you have an open bar.
The new board looks great Terry! I'll ask our webdesigner to put a link on our website.
~Penny~
Well I made it. Gonna be awhile before I figure all this out. See you all later.

I was gonna guess Bigfoot.
It reminds me of Lurky from Rainbow Bright.
Hey everyone. Thanks for all the great input! Much appreciated! I'm still laughing from David Colton's remark "Yahoo? I never even heard the name". :D
I was a little bit apprehensive (okay, a LOT apprehensive) about getting moved over here to the UMA, but Robert from Ohio patiently led me around, showing me all the ins and outs (and nooks and crannies!) and I'm just about settled in. Great job guys - the graphics, organization, everything is wonderful! I'm still looking for a suitable avatar, but I know I have lots of time because this site is here to stay! I have one little gripe, though. Is there some way to exorcise the apostrophe in "My Bookmark's"? As an old English teacher (and let's not dwell on the word "old") my toes curl up and I get all twitchy when I see a possessive when there should be a plural, sans the apostrophe. Thanks.

Greetings Cryptchick! Good eye. Your not the only one who has pointed out this grammatical error to me. Believe it or not, it was an error NOT made by me but rather the software itself! Not to worry though .. I can, and will, correct the typo. Soon .. I promise. Thanks for reminding me of it.

Well, you missed the big carded AHI figure giveaway, but I think you're just in time for the "Boris Karloff's belly button lint" sweepstakes! ;)
George
Yeah, who won those carded Creatures? I need to make address labels. Man, I was really surprised when we gave away that Tomland Mr. Hyde. I didn't even know those existed. That reminds me, I forgot to send the tracking number to the guy who won it. I just love it when we give away free toys. I hope no one came in late and missed out.
somehow that wouldn't surprise me

That's okay. You can send it to me now. No harm done.
I made it. Looks good. Very well done.
Max: Here's a improved Avatar for you. (The one you currently have is squished vertically)
For anyone's reference, here's what I did to improve it:
In Photoshop, fist I looked at it's dimensions.. it's wider then tall, so that had to be changed to fit the 100x100 requirement.
Next I made a square selection, approximating the "square. Look at the info tab, and it tells you exactly how big your selection is. You can eyeball this as you do it to get the exact size you want.. and you want the width and height to be the same. Mine was a tad too small, so I did it wrong.. there is a way to adjustthis without reselecting.
I used the select/modify enlarge option and increased it by 2 pixels, and then again by 1 pixel to get the horizontal dimension exactly the same as the verticle dimension.
Next, I reduce to down from 505x505 to 100x100, the proper size.
When you reduce a image down, it appears to loos contrast and detail.. it's a trick of the eye, but there is a way to adjust it so it looks more detailed and has the original contrast back!
Go into "levels" and make sure the black is moved over to the left to it's "peak".
next, use the middle bottom slider, and slide that to the left. it'll make some of the lost detail "magically" appear. When it looks right, accept that dialog.
Finally, go to filters/sharpen/unsharp mask. this is another thing you need to "eyeball"... adjust the sharpening level until you see more detail, but do NOT add "haloing highlights" to the image. Play with this some, to see what I mean.
Then just save it back out!
here is a side by side comparison, and the final standalone image for max to grab save and use. (or alternately, just grab the link to it.. it's in my misc photobucket account and I won't clear it out.)

Testin' out the system here. Hey, how do you embed images in the text here? I see the insert image icon and then the "bracket img bracket bracket/img bracket" thing comes up. I'm going to take an edjamakated guess and see what happens with an image from my web site:

Yep, that's the one, just stick the URL between the two sets of brackets.
Love the monsters on the coaster pic! Cool avatar, too!
Glad to see the new fomat. I was a member of the old Yahoo board but never did post, it was kind of confusing. This one seems very easy to use which is nice for a change.
I was wondering, will all those great photos of vintage Monster Stuff be transferred to this board? It would be a shame to lose all of those fantasitic pics.

Eventually. It will take awhile to do it.
Couldn't we just use the yahoo group for mass data storage of images and files?
Since images can be attached here, people can setup thier own photobucket accounts (or other imagehosting site) and then just post them here.
Ideally a few "official" phot hosting sites might be worthwhile, so image can be retained by the group, in case someone falls off the earth and a valuable image is then lost...
Hey anyone have a map? lol Just wandering around taking it all in. Trying to keep up with all the threads is like walling out of the mall trying to remember where you parked. Now what row was I in. It will take awhile but I'll figure it out.

Glad ya liked it!
Yeah, me too. I am stumbling around here. It is going to take awhile but I'll get the hang of it. This is a big change for someone my age. BTW Thanks Mike for the info about how to get a profile pic. Photobucket worked fine.
Ahhhhhh....finally a message board I can navigate. I signed up recently for the old Yahoo UMA board but I was confused by the format and never posted! I like the look of this one. Very cool! Nice job to all those involved!

Great to have you on board here Toyroom! Yahoo? Never even heard of the name! LOL! Thanks for enlisting in the army!
Hi, all!
I think I fell through a trap door in the old Yahoo place and wound up here.
I feel like Basil Rathbone when he says, "What place... is this?!"
It's going to take some lookin' around.
Richard
Good Morning Richard - Yeah it is kind of "spinning bookcase"-ish isn't it! Definitely takes some getting used to. At first it was a little intimidating - yikes a whole page of TOPICS alone! But - I have found that instead of more time-consuming it's actually less, basically because it helps you skip stuff you aren't into at the moment. Besides as we know - time is relative isn't it Dr. Olson, now quit wasting it on MONSTERS and go get that Christmas shopping done!!!
Mental monster hug!
pk
Hi ya Richard! I've been waiting for your arrival! Sit down my friend and let me pour yourself a drink.
Thanks, Paul & Terry!
This site looks/feels nice. I think it will be a great barracks for the Universal Monster Army!
Hopefully, I can contribute more in the new year. Right now, I am busy taking care of a few things I should have sent to some friends this past summer. I'm really slow!!! But, once I get caught up, I'd like to post more here.
Again, thanks for the welcome...
a "salute" to you!
Richard
Salute + monstrous hug, Big Guy!

Was a member of the Yahoo! group but have always HATED the Yahoo Group message format (so 1990's)
This board looks great and I can tell it's only gonna get better.
It's nice to be here at the beginning.
