www.monsterfestva.com (http://www.monsterfestva.com)
Monster Fest is only one month and one week away!!
Tease!
Monster Fest is only 3 weeks away!! Be sure to attend my talk on the Monster Magazines That Changed the Media. I will be talking about old and current classic horror magazines and --- MAJOR TREAT FOR EVERYONE WHO ATTENDS MY TALK -- a friend has opened up a big box of old magazines in varying condition fair to very good for YOU-- we're talking about old and hard to find 1970 era Famous Monsters of Filmland, some with torn covers, some not -- and I will be giving them away.
One week away and counting...!!! Looks like we have at least a gaggle of great Horror Hosts including Dr. Madblood and his crew, celebrating their 35th anniversary; The Keeper; Penny Dreadful and Garou; and the Bowman Body, 40th anniversary of his Shock Theater debut.
I'll be doing a chat on Ghost Tours and great spooky sites to visit, such as Poe sites and Dark Shadows location, including my spring stay at the 1966 Carey Mansion aka "Collinwood" from the 1966 series. That's just one of many great panels. Its always one of my favorite days of the year. :D

This sounds so cool! I wish I could get outta town and head up there, I actually checked yahoo maps to see how far Virginia was from where I live and I was stunned to see that it's 11 hours away :( I wish we hadn't squandered all our airline miles visiting relatives- haha Anyway, I thank you for all the info you've posted on Monster Fest and maybe if I plan better, I can attend next year. It sounds like something I would enjoy- Monsters and literature :) Hopefully photos will appear courtesy of your camera so I can see all that I missed by living in th middle of nowhere.
Sounds awesome!! Wish I could go. Post pics though!!
Looking forward to pics!
Tomorrow!!!! I'm here polishing my panel chat papers. The website has been update to reflect the plethora of Horror Hosts who are attending. Dr. Sarcophiguy has been added and he's painfully funny. It's one of my favorite days of the year. ;D
Oh yeah, make sure to go to the past photos page. I'm the happy chap on the guillotine with my monster pals Bowman Body and Penny Dreadful, and the lovely wife at my side.

I bet these pictures can only show a fraction of the fun you had!!! You guys look like my kind of people. I love the Wolfman poster for reading! Also, you sure do have a lot of nice monster props. Are they all yours or do you have a whole community of monster lovers to hang out with? I never would have known that Virginia was a "Monster State", maybe they should put that on your license plates :) I know, I'm not "all there". But seriously, I have found that California, the Midwest and the upper East Coast seem to have a lot of Monster Fun! Where I live, in the lame South, we get Dragon Con- which is not really a Classic Monster celebration, and very little else. I can't wait to see this year's photos. Live it up at Monster Fest and keep up the good work!
The collections belong to a number of the people who put on this annual show, but most especially Clayton and Robb, the founders. I would say Virginia is underrated as a Monster State. Not only have we a long tradition dating before Poe himself was brought up here, we have a long, rich history of the Shock Theater and Horror Hosts, check out the very, very good documentary, "Virginia Creepers", which itself had its origins at this show in 2006. ;D
I was there, though I arrived late in the day and only saw a few of the spectacles. But at least, in keeping with the theme of this year's Monster Fest, I did indeed meet the Wolf Man! :D
And I met Crazy Ivan and the Wolf Man there!

Cool pics.
It was great to finally meet some folks from here. Thanks for posting the pics. I really should check in more often. I have a few pics to post. Hopefully I will get some free time tomorrow to do that. It was a fun event as usual but my favorite surprise was meeting Crazy1van and Monster Kid.
Wolf Man!!!! You and Mrs. Wolf Man look wonderful! I bet you guys had a blast!

Welcome back stateside Wolf Man. This is the first post that I've seen from you!
Ah, thanks everyone. Yes, I have been scarce. Working so hard on the house and just trying to adjust back to normal life. I have not spent hardly any time at all on UMA or my own two forums. It is not looking like things will settle down any time soon either. It is a big realization that being gone for two and a half years stacks up loads to catch up on. I will keep plugging away though. Starting with the Halloween decorations next. Yeah.
Glad to hear you made it back and are settling in WolfMan. We all seem to lose a lot of our "spare time" lately. I wish I could find it! Are you having that Victorian Party that you were thinking about? I'm sure this is your favorite season, so you guys enjoy it as much as you can!
Nice Pics. >:D
Good to see you back Wolf Man, just in time for our favorite holiday...
Keep well friend...
I'm personally looking forward to seeing the house of the Wolf Man decorated for the holiday!
BTW, the MONSTERFEST page on FaceBook contains lotza photos from this year's and previous Fests.

Crazy1van- That venue is amazing! The photo of the library from what looks to be an upper floor, is wonderful. Perfect for a monster gathering. It looks like everyone is having a great time and I can see how much monster fun can fit into one building :) I was a little disturbed by the kids costume contestants- Yikes! Those kids are not playing around! I was actually scared of the little zombie! And the zombie girl scout (Brownie), what an inventive way to use your old uniforms! My daughter and I still have ours. haha So cool! My grandson would love seeing other kids that enjoy the zombie lifestyle. I'll go back and look at the other photos later, I looked at quite a few and am truly impressed by Monster Fest. You guys really walk the walk!
Hopefully this link will take you to my Monster Fest pics. My gallery focuses on the Virginia Horror Hosts who attended. Plus, the hearse was great !

I agree! That hearse look great! I also wouldn't mind having that red chair. That library is a beautiful building, inside and out. Is it in the city of Chesapeake or in a suburb?
It is the Chesapeake Central Library, but it is surrounded by burbage... and right next door to the Municiple Building.
Finally got off my furry butt and got these posted. Enjoy!

Nah, the moon was already passed the last quarter.
My Dear Brother, IVAN,
Shouldn't it read:
"Nah, the moon had already passed the last quarter."?
I HATE it, when She does that! Soooo un-ladylike!
Seriously, how can She ever hope, to have a FULL MOON, when She keeps PASSING QUARTERS!?!
And, let me tell you, I ain't gonna be the one, to pick 'em up... even, if they have fallen 240,000 miles!
Eight centuries ago {But, who's counting?} I retrieved one, of those FARThINGS; covered, with Green Cheesy Goo! Eee-Yuch!! Like, to never, get my hands clean!
EXANIMO EVERNOW,
TIMMY & THE BARON & THE BARONESS & FRIENDS, GOO-O-ODD!
And yet... if dear Luna HAD passed her last quarter, then where would she ever get another? Perhaps she sells New Moons for fifty cents, and drops that first quarter just before filling up. With the current trend in Twilight merchandising I'd think she could sell a New Moon for a lot more than that, even if it is only a bootleg of the original.

And there is definitely a very slim chance I will get to make my first return to Virginia since 2011 on that weekend, so I look forward to possibly meeting or reacquainting with all you UMA soldiers that dare to show your faces in public (or as public as Chesapeake Central Library, anyway).
