My Father had his surgery this morning and they ran in to an unexpected problem.
They found a hole in one of the valves and had to patch that before they put the pacemaker in
He'll be in ICU for the rest of today until their sure he's stable then they'll move him to a regular room.If all goes well he'll come home on Saturday or Sunday.
He was still unconcious when my Mom and I left. We'll go back later when he's awake to see how he's doing.
He recieved a package today from the USPS with no return address. The post mark was from IL so will who ever sent it please tell us so my Dad can thank you when he gets home?
I post an update later today after I go see him again.
Dear Amber-
Sorry about the complications; thanks for the update. Please keep them coming, as you can.
Prayerfully,
-Craig W.
I hope he's comfortable and will be out and at home soon.
I hope his recovery is quick and smooth.
You should receive a package from me today, but my name is on it and it's coming from MO.
Best wishes indeed, for a full and rapid recovery. Very sorry to hear of the unexpected problem, but it's fixed and that should make a very positive difference.
Prayers are with you.
Actually, it's probalbly better they found the valve thing and fixed it now. More of a blessing then a curse, I believe.
Continuing "beast witches" to dad, Amber!
Just got back from seeing my Dad and he was awake this time but really sedated.

Amber,
Those patient-controlled pain medication dispensers are good, but there is a limit to how much they'll dispense (so as to prevent the patient from overdosing themselves). I'm glad to hear that he's feeling ornery. lol That's a good sign. Give them Hell, Tom.
Rob
It's great that he's awake & talking, even if it is complaining! ;D It shows that he has a lot of fight still in him. I assume that he'll be home Sunday.

Just came from seeing Dad this morning. They had him up and sitting in a chair. He says their going to have him try and walk some this afternoon.
He's still gripeing about his chest being so sore and dosen't miss a chance to tell any doctor that walks by his room.
My Mom talked to the surgeon and he said we could probably take Dad home tomorrow if he dose't have any relapse or complications.
I'll let you know more later when we go back to see him again.
P.S.There was a couple that posted they were sending a package the other day?Are you still planning on doing that? Please let me know so I can put your names down with the others.
I haven't been on this forun for very long, but please accept my best wishes for your father's speedy recovery. Any fan of The Great Universal Films is a friend of mine. God Bless you and Godspeed on your dad's recovery.
Amber,
I'm iced and snowed in a bit here, but yes, when I can get to the p.o. a pkg will be coming from typhooforme, aka Robert Taylor.
We will be bringing Dad home tomorrow. He has to take it very easy for a while which for him will be hard to do.
The roof and the wall to the den has been repaired so that will be a big surprise and relief to him. It will be one less thing for him to worry about.
michblk your package arrived today.thank you.
Please if anyone else is mailing anything please let me know so I can add you to Dad's thank you list.
I'm so glad that all went well & that he'll be back home tomorrow. :D Seeing the house repairs will make his healing process a lot easier. In fact, that great suprise might even be the best thing for his heart! ;D We all know that the damage & the insurance company put a lot of stress on him. Tom Collins is a tough dude, though. 8)
God Bless All Of You At The Collins House
We brought my Dad home this morning. He's very weak and says he's real sore in the chest area.
I can tell he's hurting cause he didn't even feel up to opening any of his mail or packages.
He told me that he'll try to get on here on Monday if he's feeling up to it but wanted me to tell you that he appreciate all you've done.He says that he values all your friendships and that you all mean the world to him.
My Mom & I both would like to thank you all for being there for my Dad during these bad times.
You guys really helped him get through it all and for this were internaly grateful.
Thank you one and all
Amber Lynn Collins
Amber, If we all lived closer, we'd hang around until you were sick of us! Just know that we're here for you and your Mom & Dad and look forward to Tom's feeling up to talking and squawking and whatever else he wants to do when he feels like being on the keyboard again. Give him our very best. We'll keep the prayers and positive thoughts coming at ya!
I wish that some of you did live closer! Dad dosen't really have any friends to hang out with and would love to have one of you guys around.
Ever since Dad had his stroke 11 yrs ago all his so called friends seem to have abandoned him.
He dose have one very good pal named Murph but he only see's him about every 4 months or so.Murph is a cop and married with kids so he's very busy and has a hard time fitting my Dad in.
I feel bad for my Dad but there isn't much I can do. :(
Well Amber, he has plenty of online pals to chat with!
Bk
Yes this is true.I know he really treasures each and everyone of you.
Amber, tell your dad to just take it easy and everything will be alright. Sorry I didn't get to the post sooner but please tell him Universal Steve wishes him a speedy recovery. After having a heart attack myself last year, calm and rest will ensure his full recovery and the repairs on the house will make him more at ease. I wish we did live closer. We could both just sit and relax and throw in a classic Universal Monster DVD and have a good time. He would probably get tired of me because once I find another fan I can go on for hours about how great the movies were. Best wishes to your Dad and the rest of the family.
Universal Steve
Dad had a pretty rough night. He was in a lot of pain and had some trouble breathing. He seems a
little better this morning.
I hope he starts showing more improvement soon so I can get back to my own apt and back to my job. With my Mom working I don't want to leave him alone to soon.

Don't know of any you can just run to a store and buy, but there's usually a lot of the Monogram reissues of the Aurora kits (the ones with a photo of the model on the box) on ebay that you can probably get for 10 bucks and under.
Here's a couple of examples:

Dad has had a bit of a set back.We had to take him to the hospital last night and they inserted some type of drain.Seems his incision was infected and has to be drained out.
He's home but very uncomfortable. We wonder whats coming next bad luck wise??

Don't look for bad luck. Don't give up hope. Amber, you & your family have to keep on fighting. We are really pulling for your dad because we think he's an awesome guy. We know he's a soldier. 8) Complications happen sometimes, but you must pray that God guides the hands of those doctors & gives your dad comfort & a speedy recovery. Hold on to your faith, Amber.
Hang in there, Amber. It's one day at a time in recovering, and I know those days don't seem to move along fast enough when the path is rough. Just keep the faith. We're all in your dad's corner here.

A drain in an incision is fairly common. My brother-in-law has had one in his leg for about a week or so and has to keep it in even longer(due to an infection). Annoying? Yes. A setback? Not as bad as things could be. We're still pulling for him. Look for a message from me.
Rob
Well Dad is eating pretty good so I guess thats a postive sign?
I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get some model paint? I want to start getting him busy to take his mind off of things.I tried e-bay but their shipping rates are unreal!
Amber,
I'm sorry your dad had complications. It IS a good sign that he has an appetite. Picking up some paints for him to have on hand is a terrific idea. If he's painting monster kits, keep in mind that he'll be wanting to use FLAT as opposed to GLOSS paint for clothing, flesh, hair, etc. If you have a hobby shop anywhere near you, you'll find a wide assortment. There are also water base acrylic paints that are great and don't need paint thinner for clean up. You'll find all shades of all colors... If you can't find a hobby shop, you can still find the more generic Testors paints in single bottles or sets at Walmarts, Kay Bee's or Toys R us . If you have a Michael's arts and craft store anywhere near, they'd be good too. Don't forget the glue, a hobby knife for trimming pieces and some decent brushes. Hope your dad continues to improve and they beat that infection fast.
Best,
Mike G
I found a place on the web and I placed an order for some paint. He has all the other stuff you mentioned. The paint he had all dried out.Since he was declared legally blind he hasn't done much
but he's going to try and Mom and I'll will help him where we can.
Amber,
You might want to look into a Hobby magnifier for your dad considering his vision problems. Again, any hobby/arts and crafts store would carry it. It looks like a large magnifying glass on a stand and you place it between you and whatever small object you're working on. It would really help him with the fine detail work.
Good afternoon. The mods and myself have decided to lock this thread. Posting at this thread has now been disabled.
It is with great disappointment that we believe there is more than an element of suspicion and disbelief with posts that have been made here recently at this thread by UMA member Mister Horror. We now believe we have sufficient evidence that lends itself to the credibility, or lack thereof, of posts that were made by UMA member Mister Horror. This evidence was compiled after extensive research with very reliable sources of whom we know and trust.

I will not discuss this matter any further. If any of you should decide to continue discussions and gift giving with Mister Horror, you do so at your own risk outside of this forum.
