Title: Accessory to a Movie
Post by: Sean on April 19, 2010, 08:29:39 AM
We all have favorite movies or movies that we 'are in the mood' to see... and some of us like to watch these movies a certain way, e.g., at a certain time od the day, during a certain time of the year and/ or with specific refreshments & snacks on hand... (unless I'm the only OCD nut job here).

What movies of ANY genre do you enjoy BEST under what quirky conditions?

As an example:  if I'm watching Willie Wonka, I need candy, including----but not limited to-----chocolate.

I usually watch Dazed and Confused on the last day of school each year.

Anything with a Horror Host I usually watch late at night with a drink or 3.

Certain movies make the Halloween list on principle. For others, it depends what and when.

LOL...you're not alone Sean

Stepping away from Horror/ Halloween for now.

James Bond films usually require a Martini or two
Man Men, 2 or 3 scotches

Traditions Thanksgiving - we watch Miracle on 34th St, and on Black Friday, "Christmas Vacation"-yes egg nog with Clark and Cousin Eddie, and on that Sunday, "It's a Wonderful Life". We pack a bunch more in, but two Sundays before Christmas, we watch "March of the Wooden Soldiers, aka Babes in Toyland", and the Sunday before "Scrooge" with Alistair Sim. Christmas Eve, after Santa has done his work, "Christmas Carol" Reginald Owen and the Lockharts, and sometimes, "CC" with Sir Seymour Hicks...

Easter is the Ten Commandments and sometimes, "The Greatest Story Ever Told"

...and any chick flick with the wife, a bottle or two or Cab or Merlot, as started with dinner.

OG

My college roomate years ago were watching late night TV in the dorms and found an old King Henry VIII movie.  He was eating so much delicious looking food, that we went out and got a bucket of chicken and some grapes for the encore the next night.  Some girls came by and asked what we were doing... 'WHAT'S IT LOOK LIKE WE'RE DOING???!!? WE'RE WATCHING KING HENRY VIII AND EATING A BUCKET OF CHICKEN, DAGNABBIT!!!!!'

Yay! My husband and I always want hot dogs when we watch Jaws!  It's a combination of never eating hot dogs when our kids were growing up ( they seemed unhealthy), and we always think about the way it smells at Universal Studios when the shark is electrocuted. 9 out of 10 times, we end up microwaving a delicious frankfurter during the movie!

When watching the '33 KING KONG, I like to sip on a banana daiquiri while snacking on Skull Island natives.

That's fantastic.

Watching American Werewolf in London with a steady, lighter rain is something I also like.

Watching Frankenstein (1931) or The Bride of on a blustery, gusty wind (warmer air) night with my many windows cranked open in my old house (so the sheer curtains blow in the breeze) is a good mood setter.
