I'm becoming frustrated lately, trying to come-up with name
for my band. The entire Band has tried.......no luck. We're a Punk/Post-Modern/Goth
band. GBH/The Damned meets Joy Division. I really do not like putting labels or
boundries on music. But, that pretty sums up the sound of the band.
If anyone has any ideas, names, etc. I would really appreciate it...................Thanks!!!!
M. Coleman >:D
Well, depending on where you leans towards as far as you main sound the names could be all over the place. I'll toss one out there that popped in my head as soon as I saw Joy Division and the term Goth. How about Relics of Decay? :-\

Dave Barry, Miami Herald columnist, keeps a list of phrases that might make a good name for a rock band on his website.
Of course, it should be mentioned that he is a member of an occasionally performing rock band of writers (including Stephen King) called The Rock-Bottomed Remainders. Here are a few from his list:
The Bones of Contention; Weasel Nostrils; Earl Piedmont and the Diphthongs; Slippery Spleens; Sheep Eyeballs; The Flaming Croutons; Rodent Passion; Balky Charcoal; St. Vincent and The Grenadines; The Biscuit Whackers; The Urban Professionals; The Phlegmtones; Effluent, Sliced Meat; The Vestigial Organs; Decomposing Tubers; Crab Shrapnel; Contaminated Tumbleweeds; Varlet and the Squeaking Codpieces; Violently Fracturing Water Closets; The Fierce Prune-Eating Hamsters from Space; Marcel and the Turpitudes; The Eerie Groin Legumes; Drawers Full of Slugs;
Groping for Elmo; The Pig-Stinging Jellyfish; Fugitive Squirrel and the Clearly Disturbed Beavers; The Moos of Derision; Elmo Wendorf and the Cow Fitters; Pain and Suffering; Weasel Feet; Combat Alfalfa; Hearty Polyp Chuckles
But then, back in 1970, I played in a group called Malfunction Junction.
I was in a band for almost 20 years and called ourselves...Conspiracy...
feel free to use it if you want to...

No name at the moment, but I do have a suggestion. The most effective names IMO consisted of one syllable words that said it all: Kiss, Queen, Rush, Heart etc. Hope that helps.

Wicked Lester, hammerfan, Fester, Mcdee, LundyAfterMidnight, The Creeper, Elisabeth, gracebuster,
Radioactive Rod Whitenack, Monster Bob, Illoman, packy120353 , BARON TIMOTHEUS BGG ,and monsterphile....
Well the name of my band is "Locked" which is a pretty broad stroke...the lyrics arent typical death metal, there is virtually no talk about gore and grave descration. I just wanted something that sounded strong and sorta...gritty and industrious.
You could always look at your lyrical content and base what you wanna go with on something like that.
I mean when you hear "Obituary" its a pretty safe assumption you wont be hearing songs about pretty girls and butterflies...unless theyre demon possessed and ripping pretty girls to shreds lol.
Think about what you're trying to get across....or, what you aren't trying to get across.
I'm actually in the early stages of spearheading a side project that is a punk/hardcore type band....all "monsterkid" friendly lyrics.
I'll let everyone know the name soon!

If I were to ever start a band, I'd call it "Catfish Dinner and the Hushpuppies".
A great name for a Norwegian Country/Western band would be Svennessee Ernie and the Fjords.

Some of my favorite Garage and Surf rock bands are: Satan's Pilgrims, Surfaris, Count 5, Los Straitjackets,
Man or Astroman, Ventures, Dick Dale, The Trashmen, The Sonics, The Ghastly Ones, 13th Floor Elevators(
Roky Erickson), Paul Revere & the Raiders, Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs, The Seeds and many, many
more. Tons of obscure bands I dig, too many to list. I just want a really cool name for my band.
Right now were working with the name: Midnight Feature. I'm not happy with that particular name.

If you're a frustrated English Lit major, you could go with "Apes of Wrath" or "Of Lice and Men"
Here is an ad from December 1968. I think the opening band later went under a different name . . .(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4006/4504125219_edfc33531a_m.jpg)
