Man, is this guy ever misleading with his descriptions. There's nothing ''vintage'' about this mask. I like the way he tells you to get lost if you have any disputes!

Looking at his feedback, I see he has set all his past listings to "private." You can't click on a link and see the listing that corresponds to the feedback. And he has left a comment on every feedback post (at least for the first couple pages that I looked at): "simple transaction, 11 years on ebay."
No, that modern Shock Monster artist mask is not a vintage item.
I think the fastest way to kill my interest in any item is for monstertoys to be the one selling it ;)
George
And he uses the response line on some of the feedbacks to make an additional comment about the buyer of the auction above the one he posts it on.
Also, I understand typos, but his spelling is the worst on many simple words.
Rob
On one of his other items (Creature Features board game) he takes a shot at us - "i was buying monster stuff when most of the um armybloggers , was still wearing diapers". WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!

OK, so he bought the stuff a long time ago. Now, we're grown up and he still writes like an idiot and lists items for auctions using deceptive phrasing. I'd like to encourage members NOT to buy from this seller.
Rob
I've been buying monster stuff since 1989, for what that's worth.
Started buying my junk back in 1985. And I can spell too.
eBay seller monstertoys wrote "i was buying monster stuff when most of the um armybloggers , was still wearing diapers ."

I got news for you buddy, I'm still wearing diapers. Wearing diapers is part of my turn on. And I own that "impossibly hard to find" board game too. Bought it in my diapers. ;)
"Wearing diapers is part of my turn on."
TMI, boss!
(Boy, this guy is just proof that ebay will allow all kindsa crap as long as they get to wet their beak...)
I was buying Aurora monster kits and FM with my allowance when I was in grade school. I also learned early on not to lie to people. What's this guy's point?
Tsk tsk....glad to hear about this guy...
Although I was outta diapers, bought my first Aurora in 1968 (before my wife was born!)

I always wondered when the phrase ''BUYER BEWARE'' first came to be, and monstertoys has now answered that question for me...it was eleven years ago.
I've been buying Monster toys since the 70's. I wasn't to far out of diapers when I was buying them.
Lots of us are in our 40's and 50's, so he must be really old.
I liked how he specified not Don Post, but didn't say who the mfg was.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
We could easily incorporate an "American Pickers" crossover here but probably should not.

The UMA is like that. Hard to walk away from. According to the forum stats, I've been logged in for exactly 50 days, 12 hours and 21 minutes. How do you think I can continue to sit like that without ever going to bathroom? I rely on Rely. ;)

Kinda gives the term 'logged in' a whole new meaning...

The following comments are being made in my capacity as a member, NOT as a moderator.
I've done a fair amount of business with him, buying and selling. Never had a problem, but I see that some folks do. He does take some liberties with his descriptions, but most of his customers are satisfied. 99.1% of them are. If I were in the market for a Bump in the Night shock monster mask, I would not hesitate to buy it from him. Obviously it's not vintage, but I know that already. Not sure why he feels like he needs to do that, but he does I guess.
As far as his spelling goes, whether that's from a lack of education or a learning difference, I don't know. Either way, he's a pretty sharp guy who happens to have some spelling problems. I understand the frustration and anger people feel about the deceptive nature of some of his descriptions, however I think criticizing his spelling is wrong. Obviously he doesn't do that on purpose.
Look at this listing:

He explains it:
"VINTAGE MONSTER IS A HEADER CATOGORY ON EBAY "
There are a LOT of people who do searches on "vintage monster". There are beanie babies that people call "vintage".
Here are (currently) 101 listings for "vintage" beanie babies
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=vintage+beanie+baby (http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=vintage+beanie+baby)
Vintage is defined this way at Dictionary.com
http://dictionary.reference.com/define/vintage (http://dictionary.reference.com/define/vintage)
6.
the class of a dated object with reference to era of production or use: a hat of last year's vintage.
9.
representing the high quality of a past time: vintage cars; vintage movies.
10.
old-fashioned or obsolete: vintage jokes.
These items can fit the dictionary definition of "vintage". I'm not saying that I think he is being forthright in his description of that mask. If he were, he would mention it was made by Bump in the Night and is a mask from a couple of years ago. eBay makes it hard to get search hits, and putting vintage monster in the title helps people who might be interested find the item.
I'm not saying I agree with everything he does, because I don't. I don't agree with the way this thread has gone either. Disagree with the way he words some of his listings? OK fine, but let's not use that as an excuse to wallow around in the mud. UMA members take swipes at him on this site, he takes swipes back in his listings... it leads to a lot of ugliness and unnecessary animosity.

To get people who aren't interested in what you have, to look at it anyway. Like the people who put the words "famous" and "monsters" in every auction description for monster mags, or every mask auction that says "
not Don Post".

I was so worried I'd never find that Dracula Christmas ornament from last year but then I looked thru Monstertoys vintage stuff on Ebay! :D ;D >:D

That's where I found my vintage Barnabas Collins 12" action figure..........a special edition, complete with a Volturi Crest Necklace as seen in the movie "Twilight". Who knew?? What a rarity!!
Hello. I was intrigued by this thread, so I decided to check it out. Holy MERDE! That character has more negative feedback than a hound has fleas. I looked over every single page, (all 77 of them), and couldn't believe all the "red alerts".
Thank you for performing a valuable public service for memorabilia buyers. Now I know who to avoid.
Thank you again

He knows exactly what these are, He's been told by myself and others. Yes refuses to list them as VXX masks.
I also wouldn't be surprised if the Female Vampire blank is the same crappy painted one he was trying to sell as vintage last year..only stripped of the tempura paint he used.
I'm putting on my moderator hat here and asking that we all refrain from the name calling and excessive negativity in this thread. Yes, we are all aware of the fact that this seller has been known to take some liberties in his descriptions and it's fine to give fellow members a heads-up about things of this nature, but it is not OK to call names and make fun of the guy. This sort of behavior is every bit as unnecessary as what members of the group are accusing this seller of doing, so let's keep things civil.

There is no reason to list them as VXX masks, when they are Topstones. He says they are newer. There is no deception there. If I am selling a Don Post mask pulled by Rob Tharp, do I need to list it as a "Tharp mask" or can I list it as a Don Post? That is ridiculous.
The Ghoul mask is a thinner pull that was once in my collection. It's not a VXX pull. I got it from Dan Drista. The Female Vampire blank is also something he bought from me. Topstone didn't sell blanks.
"THESE ARE THICK PULL LATEX MASKS FROM THE NEWER MOLDS . NOT THIN VERSIONS"
That says it all.
The Shock Monster is a recast that VXX did, but he probably doesn't know that one is different from the others. That listing doesn't "smell" at all.
I saw the listing Bobby is talking about before I saw this thread and I didn't notice anything wrong with it, really.
"keyword spamming" and "hateful language" are legit eBay offenses . . . if it bothers you, report it.
Personally, I don't think it's worth the effort. I've been buying and selling on eBay longer than this guy . . . IMO it's never too late to adapt/change one's business approach.
