For me it has to be...."The boy who cried werewolf"
Does this look like a scary werewolf or man's best friend???
not in any order....
1.the boy who cried werewolf
2.Howling II
3.The Kevin Sorbo werewolf movie, which was just mentioned earlier, but it was sooo horrible,I forgot the title again.. ;D
4.Howling:the marsupials
5.Full Eclipse
6.War Wolves
7.Company of wolves
8.Beast of Bray road
9.not sure of the name, but it seem's it was a Blue werewolf, maybe late 70s-80s movie
10.Wolf
BLOODZ VS WULVES - Words cannot describe how disappointing this dvd was on all levels. I liked WOLVES OF WALLSTREET more than this one, and Wallstreet didn't even show any transformed werewolves!

I never even heard of that one....I wonder if it could be any worse than SyFy's WarWolves???
I don't know WarWolves, so I can't really say. Someone with a camcorder tried to make an urban version of Underworld, and failed on all levels.
That reminds me of "Kingdom of Vampires"....I rented this movie way back when..
Went over to a friend's house to watch it, and fell asleep.
The next morning, they said it wasnt worth watching, that it looked like somebody filmed it with a camcorder.
So I never watched it...kinda wished that I did, just to see how bad it is.
Bloodz vs Wolves
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0958827/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0958827/)
I used to use it to torture blasphemers that claimed they had already seen the worst movie ever made. However, I can't even tolerate it long enough to prove my point any more.
1979 Wolfman being discussed in another thread ranks high as the worst one for me and I just could not get through Werewolves on Wheels.
Paul Naschy made a few stinkers although some others are really good.
1979 Wolfman is horrid, but I got some good sleep out of it, so it still ranks much higher on my list than Bloodz vs Wolves.
Besides the Howling II and its werewolf porn scenes, my nominees are Never Cry Werewolf, and My Mom's a Werewolf
Maybe I rushed my judgement on "Boy who cried werewolf"..because...yer right,Fester..."Never cry Werewolf"was sickly horrible and made me wanna shoot myself for watching it..
Howling II: yer sister is a werewolf and the rest of the sequels were just as bad..
And how could I forget this trainwreck..."Beast of Bray road"..
Maybe I should have posted..the Top Ten Worst Werewolf movies made..
Haven't seen My Mom's a Werewolf, but Never Cry Werewolf was pretty bad, though I was able to finish it, by counting all the scenes that were directly stolen from Fright Night (I found 8; did anyone beat me?). Howling II was actually fun for me, as it was so cheesy I knew it had to be on purpose (I mean, come on; Titanium Stakes through the heart??), though the rest of the series got progressively worse in defiance of all sensibility.
Eyes of the Werewolf was awful. It too had soft-core porn moments (though none involving the werewolf), but it also had even less of a story than Howling II. Worse acting too, for that matter. But at least it had a deformed midget.
Yeah, sadly I can easily identify more bad werewolf movies than good ones, and that's allowing for my somewhat unusual taste in movies. If they're so bad they're good, I classify them as "fun" rather than "bad".
How about Scream of the Wolf? With a dog for a werewolf.
Has anybody else here except me seen the Dick Clark produced "Werewolf of Woodstock"? It stands alone in its own weirdness. It takes place during and after Woodstock, when a hippie hating redneck is struck by lightening and becomes a hippie killing werewolf! I kid you not, you can see a werewolf DRIVE a dune buggy in this film! This rarely seen film does really exist!
I have not only seen the film, I waited eagerly for it when it was advertised on TV and I saw it first showing. I recently tried to find the film on DVD or any format and of course couldn't. There were a number of made for TV werewolf movies back in the day. Since we were so starved for anything werewolf I remember thinking those weren't bad back then. Hard to watch them now of course. I picked up a DVD copy of Boy Who Cried Werewolf and this film scared me pretty much when I was a kid but now, IYIYI. Pretty corny.

The Boy Who Cried Werewolf was one of the last double bills released by Universal in the old B movie/drive-in days. It was the B picture following that cinematic masterpiece Sssssss starring Strother Martin and Dirk Benedict.
Worked at the Park-Vu Drive in when it came out, and the double feature ran for just one weekend. The only reason it ran that long, was that the distributor had nothing in town to replace it until Monday. ::)

I saw that double feature back in the day and LOVED it! SSSSSSS is still one of my favorite films, snake lover that I am.
THE BOY WHO CRIED WEREWOLF is one of the more conspicuous titles missing from home video. I'd snap up a DVD in a heartbeat.

SPOILER ALERT
I rather enjoyed this movie, even tho it was Clint Walker and his Dog...
Scream of the Wolf would not have been so bad to me if it had a real werewolf in it.
I did not mind Boy Who Cried Werewolf, would not consider it the worst.
Cursed, is a guilty pleasure. I watch it actually a lot as campy fun. I would never consider it a serious werewolf film but loads of fun. I definately would not consider it on the worst list, it has some decent entertainment value.

WEREWOLVES ON WHEELS is actually one of my all-time favorite 70's flicks. I originally saw it as part of a
Dusk-To-Dawn BIKERTHON at the Drive-In in the early 70's, owned a couple of VHS tapes and now, the dvd. It's not that it's a particularly great werewolf film, or biker film, or T & A film, or satanic cult film - it's the total package! And from my experience, I'm one of the few horror fans, who really loves it! Maybe it stems from some early associations with one percenters!
it cant be any worse than.."The beast must die"....that movie sucked..the only good thing about that movie was Peter Cushing.
Bad as they are, I do somewhat enjoy Cursed, Howling II, Never Cry Werewolf, and a host of others' choices for Worst. Hell, I count Werewolf Of Washington as one of my favorites.
The Beast Must Die is horrid; no redeeming qualities. Face of the Screaming Werewolf shouldn't even be called a movie, and the fact that it has footage of Lon Chaney wolfing out makes me cry.
But if you really wanna lower the bar, I cannot stress enough to see BLOODZ VS WOLVEZ. This will give you a new appreciation for ALL other werewolf movie efforts.

Man i wish i could have seen that dusk-to-dawn bikerthon. I love biker movie. As a matter of fact, i just got done watching the wild angels with Peter Fonda.
Slayergriffith, the 70's (and late 60's) biker flicks were right up there with the monster/horror films as part of my viewing pleasure back then, and still are! Titles like THE GLORY STOMPERS, THE SAVAGE SEVEN, HELL'S ANGELS ON WHEELS, the aforementioned THE WILD ANGELS, etc. are just some of my faves.
The Savage Seven was just on a few days ago...
what about ...Wild Hogs.....Beyond the Law.....The Wild one.....
BEYOND THE LAW, is that the one with Charlie Sheen & Michael Madsen? Great flick! THE WILD ONE has to be the first biker film, I'd think.

NOOO! The Werewolf of Washington is a classic! An obvious homage to THE WOLF MAN (1941) it has great fun poking at the political figures of the day with a silver cane. And in the end, President Nixon becomes a werewolf!

Sadly, no. $15.00 for a bad bootleg of a bad movie? I'll wait for something better or something cheaper. Preferably both.
People praise it as being a classic, but I think The Howling is bad. I tried to watch it so many times, and it is just a dull and not very good film. I like The Howling 2 better, because Christopher Lee really does a great job in it.
I was never keen on The Howling either, or Dog Soldiers for that matter. An American Werewolf In London is my personal favourite, I used to watch it over and over again when I was a kid.
Howling II is hilarious to me, great campy fun I will never shy away from. But it IS a bad movie. Just not the worst of course.
Let me comment first on the Howling. Whenever you grade or critique a film it is often a good idea to consider it in context to when it was released and the films that came before it. When the Howling was released I saw it in the theater and it was a great film since we had not had a really good scary werewolf film of any substance up until then. That is not counting the Universal Classics and the 1956 The Werewolf. Werewolf films had a tendancy to be cheap horror fodder, low B grade garbage. Viewed today by someone who had not grown up on many of the films that came before it The Howling might seem to be a "not very well made film". The Howling's transformation sequence is still today to be considered one of the best ever ranking up there with American Werewolf in London. So keep that in mind when viewing it. Consider its place when it was new.
I have seen Werewolf of Woodstock and yes, it was a made for TV campy werewolf film. See above. It is like trying to watch Werewolf of Washington now. Almost impossible to sit through it. But......back when they first came out we did not have very many quality werewolf films to view. Also, when those were aired we only got to see them once. In today's world of DVD, multiple viewings, the pause button and of course the "stop" button when the film is a real stinker films seem much worse than when they were viewed on TV in one shot plus commercials. Werewolf of Washington, The Boy Who Cried Werewolf, Death Moon, Werewolf of Woodstock, 1979 Wolfman, Moon of the Wolf and a host of others all came before The Howling and tend to make the Howling look like oscar material by comparison.
I remember thinking how "Scary" The Boy Who Cried Werewolf was when I first saw it in a theater. I have grown up a lot since then and when I recently got the DVD I laughed out loud at how cheesy the film was.
The Howling though is on my watch list each year for Halloween. It is not nearly as bad as some others.
Bad Moon is a guilty pleasure. Sure, not a great Werewolf film but who doesn't squeal with delight when the slimy salesman con artist comes back to kill the dog. The shadow that rises behind him of who he runs into is a predictable but awesome thrill.
Dog Soldiers considered one of the best by Werewolf fans. Silver Bullet also quite good.
Dog Soldiers was one of the most original werewolf movies in awhile. It had great tension from the opening zipper scene to Spoon's brawl. It is now one of my favorites.
The Howling scared me as a kid. Eddie was a thing of nightmares. I still enjoy watching it today, although I do find myself selecting AWiL more often as an adult.
I think the reason I was disappointed with Dog Soldiers was because it had been hyped up so much, I did enjoy the film and as a directorial debut it was fantastic I just wasn't blown away by it like so many of my friends seemed to be. I know I'm in the minority here but I haven't been overly impressed by any of Neil Marshall's films so far. IMO 'The Descent' is overrated and I thought 'Doomsday' was pretty dire.
Empire magazine gave 'The Descent' 5 stars but although it was an okay movie I wouldn't call it a classic. I think Empire being a British magazine was a little generous in their review. Don't get me wrong I'm not anti-Neil Marshall, he is clearly a talented director and is great for the genre I just feel we haven't nearly seen the best of him yet.
That is interesting that you would call Dog Soldiers "hyped up". No one in the US had heard about it and it did not get a US theater release. Most of us found out about it either by word of mouth or by reading about it somewhere. There is an interesting commentary on the DVD about what happened to "not" get a US release. I think this film would have done well in US theaters for sure. As a werewolf fan I would call it a great "werewolf" film but I would not necessarily call it a great or perfect overall movie. It had everything I want to see in a werewolf film, action and suspense with some twists and some great characters. Spoon steals the film and has one of the greatest fight scenes in films in my opinion. "balls of British steel"
Fun movie. I watch it at least once a year if not more often.

Well said, and something I always preach myself to Nancy, who is extremely hard on some films. You have to take them in their context and find the elements that make it memorable, and enjoy that (even if only for comedy/camp value).

I suppose 'hype' was the wrong word, here in the UK I was one of the last to see it amongst my circle of friends who were all raving about it, so for me personally it had been built up too much. If I had caught it one night on TV and had never heard of it I probably would of been one of the ones raving about it. A similar thing happened when I saw Zombie Land, and it's famous 'cameo'. I had heard so many reviews about said cameo that when it came I was expecting something spectacularly funny (although it was a great cameo!) The same thing happened the other night when I watched Tropic Thunder with Tom Cruises character, I watched it with two friends who kept saying "wait till you see Tom Cruise he's hilarious!" and then I found myself
trying to find him funny when he appeared.
