Title: Verne Langdon Zombie
Post by: lblambert on December 01, 2009, 06:32:17 PM
Not a Universal monster but some of you fellow collectors will appreciate this one. This zombie isn't the reissue that Kelly Mann offered several years ago. Some of you will recall a number of years ago there were approximately 10 copies made from a cast of an original...this is one of those.

As for the other goodies pictured, Kevin Dobbs (who sold me the mask) also included as a bonus the issue of Creepy from 1972 which pictures Langdon's original mask on the cover. Back when Verne & Kelly offered the reissue mask, Verne also released this tiki mug with the design. I was too late to get the mask but I did manage to pick up the mug.

Awesome pick up, love the Langdon Zombie. What is the history with the Kelly Mann reissue. Seems like there are two versions of it.

Kelly told me he was in the middle of the run and had to stop for a while, and Verne picked up the finishing chores for a bit. During that period Verne decided to do the the paint work the way he wished that he had, rather than do it as the original run was done. When Kelly got back to them he returned to the original color scheme for the remainder of the run.
That could explain it...
