Post by: gracebuster on January 29, 2008, 10:36:00 PM
Took some closer pics of the collection as I have meant to do for months. I know Shawn has some cool stuff as well!

FANGTASTIC! I've been wanting to get one of those Universal Frank dolls for a long time now. I'm just not sure what a fair price would be to pay? Any ideas?

I love the Frank Doll, I'm a sucker for vinyl headed plush.

The banks and Castle Dracula snowglobe are fantastic, I want one!!!

Dan, whats the story behind Castle Dracula??   Was it an attraction??

Was it this Castle Dracula? (http://i23.ebayimg.com/02/i/05/ee/f9/1c_1.JPG) or maybe the one in Clifton?

If it's the Wildwood C.D., you can learn more about it here: http://www.darkinthepark.com/Dracula/cdHistory/cdhistory.htm (http://www.darkinthepark.com/Dracula/cdHistory/cdhistory.htm)

That's a different Castle Dracula. There was an attraction at Universal Studios in California called Castle Dracula as well. I kinda did a little write up on these in some other thread awhile back. I'll post photos of my Universal and Castle Dracula stuff here soon.

Dan, thanks for starting this one...

I know all about CD in wildwood. One of my favorite places as a kid. I have few of those brochures.

Ok Dan here goes...

1st photo - What is that pin /button in the top left with the Phantom on it?
What's the Frank head in the middle? Candle? Ceramic bank?
Are both of those kid Frankenstein banks the same? I have one that is similar but his right arm is raised in a wave. Now I need to try and find that one! Gotta have both.  ;D

2nd photo - Is that a Castle Dracula button?
That patch looks like it has Castle Dracula on it correct?

5th photo - Is that a stack of tin ashtrays or coasters? They look awesome, are they all the same?

6th photo - Love that Castle Dracula snowglobe bottle, mine has about the exact same amount of water in it.
Oh my god, that wax paper cup with Frankie on it is incredible!! That's gotta be about my favorite thing in there!!

I've put together a pretty decent collection of stuff from the Universal Castle Dracula so far, I'd love to know what all else is out there. Do you, or anyone, know the years that this thing was around? Most of the stuff I have looks very 80's.

I've been rearranging that part of my collection and once it's done I'll post some new photos here.

Thanks again Dan for starting a thread about one of my favorite subjects!

Here is my modest contribution to this thread:

It is a sticker from the Universal Studios tour.  I found it this weekend as I was cleaning out a closet, passing time during the UMA blackout.

Wow, an amazing opportunity to see some of that stuff.  Thanks for the pics, Dan.  Those little ceramic House of Dracula statues are so cool.  Are they from the 70's?

An old, tin lithographed Universal Studios telescope, late 60s/early 70s I'm thinkin', with a guy dressed as Frankenstein in a Don Post mask! For checking out girls while on the tour, I suppose. And in case you get lost, there is a convenient compass on the side.

1st photo - What is that pin /button in the top left with the Phantom on it?

Yes, It's a pinback. Consistant with the images of the Phantom wearing the Post mask and a top hat.

What's the Frank head in the middle? Candle? Ceramic bank?
It's a Ceamic head made in the plaster shop or make- up shop and painted by the guys at the Make up show.

Are both of those kid Frankenstein banks the same? I have one that is similar but his right arm is raised in a wave. Now I need to try and find that one! Gotta have both.

Ahhhhhhh yes, caught me  on that one. Same bank minor paint variations.

2nd photo - Is that a Castle Dracula button?
Yes

That patch looks like it has Castle Dracula on it correct?
And yes.

5th photo - Is that a stack of tin ashtrays or coasters? They look awesome, are they all the same?
They are identiclal.

6th photo - Love that Castle Dracula snowglobe bottle, mine has about the exact same amount of water in it.

Thats damned Creepy!

Oh my god, that wax paper cup with Frankie on it is incredible!! That's gotta be about my favorite.

It's pretty cool. I wonder, how in God's name did that survive?!?!?!

Some loot thats missing, but VERY rare.

A set of Munsters House Universal Studios playing cards. Gave em' to Kevin Burns one Christmas.

An amazing hat. Like a Gilligan hat , sort of, with Frankenstein, etc. on it . My Pal, Rob Klien has one of those.

That Telescope thing that Bob Morris  has, used to have a case of them, but gave them to the Neighborhood kids to play with...just kidding.

I'm gonna be honest with you, I knew Dan was into wax museums, touristy Monster attractions and the like... and of course Universal Tours fits into that mix, but I didn't know anybody else cared about stuff like this. I just liked it and it was monstery.

Does it have a can opener on the bottom?  That is one weird water globe.  I want one with Mummy getting his bandages stuck in a merry-go-round.

I don't remember seeing all that Castle Dracula stuff...had no idea they sold all those items.  I do remember the one time I saw the Castle Dracula show--it really was cool and fun and I was horrified that they got rid of it so quickly.  Good thing I got a compass in the stock, though.
