For his little LAUGH IN poems--and for his wonderful role in NASHVILLE--never to be forgotten!  Sleep now, rest now.

I will remember him for his Laugh-In work and for his portrayal of the Doctor who moved in next door to Tom Hanks in "The 'Burbs", an underrated dark comedy.

As a kid I used to mix him up with Arte Johnson because they both seemed so tiny in that show.

Henry Gibson, along with everything BLUES BROTHERS, will always be a big part of my family's life, simply because I started going out with my wife over 10 months of cinema late shows of that great movie (we would front up in costume every Friday night, a la ROCKY HORROR). My kids are thoroughly drilled that they owe their existences to Jake 'n' Elwood.
When you're a regular at these things you keep trying to outdo other regulars with little routines based on what's on the screen. With Gibson as the leader of the Illinois Nazis, it was the fact he'd never wash the gold paint from the brush he was painting his eagle statue with, before setting it down to rush off and get the Blues Brothers. Eventually you had thirty people in this thing all yelling, "Wash your brush, a--hole!!"  Maybe he ws a garage-kitter at heart.

Also once or twice someone climbed the stage in a Brownshirt uniform (no, I don't know where those came from) to mime his whole 'swastika is calling you' speech with the on-screen image towering behind.

And his BOSTON LEGAL character was at the forefront of its parade of memorable eccentric justices.

Ah, good times. Thanks Henry.

I used to love his crazy poems on Laugh-In, R.I.P. Henry Gibson.   :'(

   Laugh-In's Henry aired silly poems
   Designed to brighten our day
Now he's a star in the Heavens
   Lets remember him that way

Mr Gibson was one of my favorite actors. Up there with Randall and Klugman, James Whitmore, Karloff, Price.

This was one of the greatest performances given by any actor in any movie EVER!

Although we never worked together, I was blessed to meet him when he was working on a MURDER SHE WROTE next door to our MATLOCK stage on the UNIVERSAL BACKLOT!

I will pull out the autograph he sent me when we shared the same agent.

Just writing on this thread makes me want to weep. God Bless Him.

Please don't take this the wrong way - This really IS my favorite Henry Gibson role.

"Despite millions of dollars of research, death continues to be our nations #1 killer". Hilarious.
