I've noticed that some of the toy images in the gallery (brought over from the old Yahoo UMA?) are a bit washed out, out of focus, etc.
Mike? Terry? Are you doing the "moving"?

I was thinking, could there be a special place here at the new UMA for "donations"???...in other words, if a UMA member has a toy and can take a clear high rez pic and then "deposit" it in a unique file for use in the Gallery? That way, if said pic is much better quality than what's in the gallery, a moderator could replace the image.
I haven't looked around enough to notice if individual members can create files/load pictures to the gallery on their own. But I thought that a single image file might work well as a moderator can sift through and place the toy image in it's proper subject/year in the gallery. A moderator could also post "requests" for toy images there. Maybe the image "depository" file could be called the "morgue"?...as in... drop your toy image off at the morgue.
Does this make sense? workable? Or too much trouble?

I agree that it would be nice to be able to "update" the galleries with better photos. Especially ones that could be viewed larger. I know that I would gladly contribute.

Greetings Richard. Indeed some of our Gallery photos have seen better days. Yahoo was partially to blame for the "washed out" images. Image quality and sizes were compromised when Yahoo changed it's photos sections a couple yrs back. Mike and I were just discussing this last week.
I think your idea is a splendid one! Who isn't interested in having a better looking Gallery? I will create a new thread titled "Image Depository". This will be the place where members may contribute their photos.
BTW, the Gallery uploading permissions have been restricted to the mods only. This was done as preventative measure in keeping the Gallery clean and organized. The old UMA Yahoo photos section ended up being littered with stray and repetitive pics thereby making for somewhat of a pixel landfill. We didn't want this to happen here. I hope everyone understands. We will review the idea of opening a "Members Gallery" where folks could upload personal pics of their personal collections and the like.

Would very much like to have the best possible pics of some of the rarest items, like the Hasbro Mystery Games and "Paint-by-Numbers", Phoenix candy boxes (scans of front and back), Monstertoon iron-ons, Coppersmith plaques and packaging, SPP wall plaques, Jamar puzzles and anything else we don't have good pics of.
I think this is a great idea and I hope EVERYONE out there contributes to this. I, and I'm sure everyone else, fully understand and agree with only moderators being able to add the photos. Someone has to be in charge of this thing (better you than me ;) ).

Is there a way where if the contributor wants to add either descriptive information (which the mods could approve first) or a "From the collection of ___________" below the photo this could be done?
