I'm sure we switch off of monsters sometimes for a good laugh. What are some movies you find yourself laughing at as if it were the 1st time you've seen it? Personally, I have quite a few..but to start with I'll share the 5 comedies that I dont think I could live without when I need a laugh.
Anchorman. I quote this movie constantly..when I'm getting ready to go out.."60% of the time, it works everytime."
Spies Like Us. I think this is probably the most underrated comedy EVER. The "test" scene alone is worth the price of the dvd.
A Christmas Story. Prob one of my fave non-monster movies ever..."but it wasnt fudge, it was the F--- word." Classic.
Beverly Hills Cop. Comedy/Action I guess, I love this movie and still hum the theme regularly. "We're not gonna fall for the bannana in the tail pipe trick".
#1 Without a doubt is.....Caddyshack! Do I even need to quote anything, or say anything about this movie???
Goonies
Arsenic and old lace
Support your local sheriff
Christmas Story
Man's favorite sport
It happened one night
any of the Harold Lyold movies
Strange Brew
Any Marx Brothers film
Spinal Tap
Duck soup and any Laurel and hardy film, modern films I would go with Airplane. "Whys that table set for four? Thats nothing I have my alarm set for eight". "A horse can be brought to water but a pencil must be lead".
Sons of the Desert (Laurel & Hardy)
A Christmas Story
Monty Python's And Now For Something Completely Different
Revenge of the Pink Panther
Some good choices there and throw me in the Marx Bros. pile. I'll add BLAZING SADDLES and IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD. Let's throw in some Abbott & Costello too.
Rob
Caddyshack. Love that Rodney Dangerfield!
The first two that come to mind happen to be monster related: A&C Meet Frankenstein and Ghostbusters.
IT'S A GIFT (W.C. Fields)
YOU'RE TELLING ME (Fields again)
ANIMAL CRACKERS (Marx Bros.)
NIGHT AT THE OPERA (Marx Bros.)
THE RULING CLASS (Peter O'Toole)
THE WRONG BOX (Peter Cooke and Dudley Moore)
HIGH ANXIETY (Mel Brooks)
Gotta agree with "Caddyshack". Also "Animal House", the original "Producers", "Serial" still funny after 20 plus years, and it has Christopher Lee....

There's Robert again, showing his excellent taste in comedians!! ;D
Mike
Any of the Guest/Levy works (Waiting For Guffman, A Mighty Wind, Best In Show, For Your Consideration... and yes Illoman, Spinal Tap!).
No Time For Sergeants. Just incredibly funny.
The Great Race.
Any Laurel & Hardy. Our Gang. Harold Lloyd.
I'll often have DVD marathons of The Andy Griffith Show.
Mike C.
A big YES, too, on the Guest/Levy ones. Brilliant stuff.

2 great ones! I love anything that has to do with old SNL...as far as I'm concerned Dan Aykroyd is a genius. I think it is pretty official we wont be seeing Ghostbusters III...which stinks. At least the resurgance and intrest in the new toys is good news.
A&C Meet Frankenstein could probably have an entire section on this forum alone. I think this movie was my introduction to monsters and where I was initially bitten by the bug. If I watched A&C on "mute" I think I would still laugh :)
You've listed some good ones. Planes, Trains and Automobiles. 40 Year Old Virgin, because it has Monster Toys!
BK
Uncle Buck

Tommy Boy
Nothing But Trouble

There isn't a day that goes by where I'm not quoting Zero or Gene (OR Dick Shawn or any of the other geniuses in this movie) to someone. Or even alone (a neighbor owns a Karman Ghia, and whenever he takes it out on the weekends I think 'Whitewhitewhite, the color of our carpets!').
Like Young Frankenstein, it's one of those endlessly entertaining films. Can't
believe it didn't come to me in my first post... shame on me.
Mike C.

My Favorite Year
You Can't Cheat An Honest Man
Comedy Of Terrors
Arsenic And Old Lace
Horse Feathers
My favorite comedy is monster-related: Young Frankenstein. The best parody ever lovingly crafted! Thanks to Mel, Gene and company, I can't watch the hermit scene in Bride anymore without thinking of Hackman's brilliant send-up of it!! "Wait! I was going to make espresso!"
I do enjoy watching the early Marx Bros movies for their sheer lunacy!
Mike C and others who mentioned The Producers - I hope you had the chance to see the musical performed on stage. As hard as it is to believe, it was better than the movie! But - don't judge the broadway show by the musical/movie that came out after the Broadway show. We went to see it and couldn't believe how flat and lifeless it was compared to the stage show - and the original movie, for that matter.
Also love the Pink Panther movies, especially "Return", and "A Shot In The Dark".
caddyshack
airplane
overboard (kurt russell, goldie hawn)
stripes
the blues brothers
it's a long list....
Ghostbusters has been on my top 5 list since it came out. I also credit Bill Murray with teaching me sarcasm.
The Three Stooges Columbia shorts
almost any WC Fields movie-particularly It's a Gift and Never Give a Sucker an Even Break
Monty Python TV show and movies
The original Pink Panther movies
Benny Hill
Warner Brothers and MGM cartoon shorts
The Honeymooners
in the genre
Arsenic and old lace
You Never Can Tell
A&C meet Frankenstein
Neighbors (Ackroyd and Belushi)
Ghostbusters
out of the genre
Duck Soup
Road Pictures (pick one)
Champagne For Caeser (early Price film)
What a Way to Go
Monty Python's Holy Grail
Not very many...........have made me laugh.
But here are a few.
Stripes, Waynes World, Pink Flamingos,
Polyester, Cry Baby, the Exorcist
A few off the top of my head ...
