Comedic actor-director Dom DeLuise has died. The Golden Globe nominated star was 75 and passed away in his sleep last night. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
Dom was one of the greatest unsung actors of our time. Yes he was hysterically funny, but he was as moving and expressive as anyone in the business.
Fatso is very funny, but it's also very touching and full of love; it's entirely because of his incredible skill and enormous heart.
He was also in the top three list of nicest guys ever.
Thanks for all the laughs, and the tears. I'll miss you Dom.

This one goes right to the heart--Dom was a sweet, kind man, and effortlessly funny in a way that many comedians could only hope to be. The Deluise family were neighbors and good friends to Sara (Karloff) and Bill Sparkman--Sara had told me some time back that Dom was gravely ill, but even expecting it I can't help feeling shocked at the news. I knew him from tv appearances in the '60s, and the first film I can recall seeing him in was Mel Brooks' THE TWELVE CHAIRS (1970). He was brilliant, one of the best. Rest well now, Dom!
Thank you Dom for the years of laughter. Thank you for the autographs through the mail and the little sketches you would provide those who wrote to you. Thank you. David
Another friend of the family gone...
Well Dom, Say hello to your sister, Mrs. Robinson, in "Fatso" for me and give my Uncle Murray,Mom and Dad and uncle Keefe a big hug for me.
You were always kind and gracious to our family and you will be missed.
Horror connection:
"Haunted Honemoon" (1986) with Gene Wilder and Gilda Radner. The plot contains a werewolf element.
My prayers go out to the family. A truely talented person. I dont know if anyone remembers seeing him in the old Dean Martin show sketches but they are real gems. His work as Capt. Chaos in Cannonball Run among other fims of that nature i.e. Smokey and The Bandit 2, were STAPLES of my childhood.
Thank you for the laughs, you will be missed!
Dom was a comedy genius and will be sorely missed. R.I.P. Dom, thanks for all the laughs you have given us.

Let's not forget his 1 time shot at Dr. Dudley!
He had a three-minute scene in FAIL-SAFE that I've never forgotten. You talk about his unsung dramatic skills... you could write an essay about what you see there. Awesome.
Now I've got to break this to my 20 y.o. who has Down Syndrome, is devoted to THE MUPPET SHOW and knows its guest stars back-to-front. Dom DeLuise included.
RIP, Dom!
Thought I'd go with something a bit less obvious.

Dang, what a bummer. He'll be missed.
Another horror connection... he was "Dr. Animal Cannibal Pizza" in one of my favorites, the insanely silly Psycho/Silence of the Lambs spoof "The Silence Of The Hams".
One of my favorites...RIP.
A very funny, very nice man.
