Rob Reiner, 1947-2025
The director of some of my favorite movies and his 68-year-old wife, Michelle were found dead in their Brentwood home. The story is developing.
Rob Reiner on 60 Minutes - October 5, 2025.

My sympathies go out to the surviving Reiner family for what
must be the darkest holiday season of their lifetimes. :'(
Terrible.
What a tragedy! R.I.P. to them both and sympathies to the family. :(
When I heard the news late last night, I said something to the effect of "Oh, NO!" out loud, even though I live alone. It really took the wind out of me. I was a bit surprised. I hadn't realized that his body of work meant that much to me.
Almost immediately, the ugly rumors began to spread. Now they are being repeated by MANY YouTube posters. I refused to add to the gossip. Still waiting for some official word from a news source I trust. But it looks like the authorities are being pretty slow about putting out the official word.
Reiner has left us so much to remember him by. Many of the movies he directed are favorites of mine.

His property was all lit up with holiday lights. What an AWFUL time for his friends and family!
S*H*I*T*
Simply tragic and horrible news. Prayers for the family and RIP to both. Always loved All in the Family and The Princess Bride in particular. Very sad.
Those first movies of his are all classics! Spinal Tap, Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Misery and A Few Good Men.
If unconfirmed reports are true, this is indeed a real tragedy.

The police have confirmed they arrested his son.
I was in a good mood before this, now I am feeling pretty bummed today.

Very, very sad. Reminds me of Phil Hartman's death.

I remember that.
I was thinking of Gene Hackman and his wife - and how horribly Anne Heche died.

I need to go watch "Duck Soup", or something.
All the early YouTube posts were true.
He was killed by his son, and his daughter found the bodies.
Reiner was busy right up to the end. He just finished a follow-up to "This is Spinal Tap" with the original cast coming back for "Spinal Tap 2". There was also an additional Spinal Tap project being worked on for 2026.
He had a lot more he could have done, but I am SO glad for what he has left of himself for us to enjoy for years to come.
I wish I could have met him briefly and told him how much his work meant to me. I can't help feeling a personal loss.
Unbelievably tragic and depressing.
