Welcome to the UMA, UniversalMonsterMania! As you likely know, the Remco Monsters At Home Creature from the Black Lagoon, while not rare, commands a princely sum these days. You were made aware of the recent Heritage auction? It set a world record price as far as I'm aware, at $1750, and in poor condition to boot (plus Heritage got the year of release wrong, go figure).
Recmo Monsters at Home Creature from the Black Lagoon Hand Puppet (https://entertainment.ha.com/itm/action-figures/other/monsters-at-home-creature-from-the-black-lagoon-hand-puppet-remco-1981-/a/49183-88120.s)
Open these photos in another browser tab to see them large:

The Illco Mummy Monster Ball should be much easier and cheaper to track down, though the Halloween season makes all spooky items a bit more sought and a bit more bought. Good luck!

I don't know about "poor". At least it's all there. No big chunks missing. I'd definitely remove those staples, though.
Yeah, I am aware of the Heritage auction for the Creature puppet because I was the one in the bidding war with the guy who won. I put my last bid in at $1475 but with buyers premium and taxes it was just too crazy for me to keep going. I was was going to make one more bid, but whoever it was seemed to have bottomless pockets.

It's murder not knowing what the other guy is willing to pay! ;D

Wow, I certainly feel for you, but hopefully one in both better condition and at a lower cost will come along. Before this, I think $800+ was the most I'd ever seen one sell for, and that one was in great condition. I'm not in the market, but have they generally become both that expensive and that elusive?
Not sure, I have never seen one before other than worthpoint or some website telling what it is. I have 2 frankensteins, 2 mummies and 1 dracula currently.
I see loose ones on eBay, but don't recall seeing any carded ones.
There is something stupid going on with these auctions. The fact that every auctions just about far exceeds what the actual item should go for is insane and to think collectors out here willing to risk it all for coloring books and crap is wild to me. I had to stop and take a break and step back which is why I stopped at my bid. I said, I am bidding on a finger puppet and I am about to spend more than people pay for their mortgage. WTF but if you step back and look at these auctions and how much money they bring it, I think this one alone was over 500k dafuq... Frankenstein movies posters and photos selling for $200-400k coloring books selling for $30k etc etc. This has to be celebrities or something the normal collector aint got it like that.
Also, I think Heritage got in some hot water a while back for shill bidders. These people putting in false bids to raise the price. I do not at all doubt some of these big auctions don't still do it. The format for the auctions are crap, I technically won that item multiple times but the timer resets to 14minutes or something every time i bid is put in, this person waited to literally the last second EVERYTIME and put a bid in resetting the timer. We did this over and over and over and it dragged out forever. Lastly, the thing that really is off putting about these auctions is the buyers premium, for this item at the price I was bidding at I was paying something like $500 just in fees not even including taxes and any other fee that might have incurred. I had to draw the line hard where I did and it really pissed me off to do so after all that abuse

Yep, us collectors is crazy alright! I'm just as crazy as those guys, but I don't have their money. ;D

Well most normal collectors wouldnt have bid over 1k on a remco puppet with fees on top of that........it's sad to see this hobby become just another "to the highest bidder" affair. One of the reasons im reluctant to share anymore. It just exposes things and gives info to people with deeper pockets than me.
There seems to be this new crop of collectors that think its ok to just throw money like that around expecting congratulations. You'll find most of us here dont have it "like that".
As someone who's been a member of the UMA for 20 years its annoying when deep pocket collectors join thinking we are a depository for toys. Joining to ask about an odd/obscure item that isnt necessarily valuable just hard to find with little to no info online is understandable. Joining to ask about common/valuable items just about every other collector is searching with an abundance of info online makes no sense. Esp without any prior participation. Its insulting actually.
"Ask over at the UMA" like we just have extras in the stockroom. In 2025 if you cant find it on FB you certainly wont find it here Mr Void.

By action figure grading standards it would be considered poor because of the torn hole and staples. Not to mention all the creases and edge wear/rubs.
By vintage monster toy standards its in great condition. As long as something isnt trashed and is displayable Im happy with it. Stuff is too hard to find to be a condition whore.
